表現152）There is no such thing as coincidence.（偶然なんていうものはないのさ。）
「偶然などない」とは、日本語でもよく聞く言葉ですね。その英語版が今回の表現です。There is no～は「～がない」で、such thing as～は、「～というようなもの」。その二つが結合すると、There is no such thing as～となり、「～というようなものはない」になります。そして、asの後に偶然を意味するcoincidence（コーインシデンス）が来るので、There is no such thing as coincidence.となり、全体の意味は「偶然というようなものはない。」になるわけです。難しそうに言っていますが、実は簡単な構造ですね。
