前任校の思い出（学年通信）

引き出しを整理していると一枚の紙切れが出てきた・・・

２００１年に５６期生に向けて書いた、メッセージだった。学年通信にメッセージを載せなければらなかった時に英語で書いたメッセージだった。

When I recall my high school days, there were no English oral communication classes available.  In high school, I was never taught by a native English speaker.  Can you believe that the first time I spoke to a native speaker was when I was a junior in the university ( a third year university student ) ?  And can you believe that I was an English major at that time?

Times have really changed.  You can easily access all sorts of English materials, anything that you would like in this affluent society.  In class you have many chances to speak with a native speaker of English.  At home you can watch bilingual TV programs any time.  You can even visit and see English websites on the Internet on your own computer.

What a shame it would be if you didn’t make use of all these good English materials!  It goes without saying that English is indispensable in this international world.  You should study English much harder and get the most out of it.  Good Luck! 

内容を読んでいて、とても懐かしく思えた。すでにインターネットが普及していた時代だったが、今ではスマホや、タブレット、スカイプなどで、便利に英語でコミュニケーションがとれる時代になった。

あと１０年たてばもっと変わっているだろうなあ、と思いながら読み返した・・・
