padded over

吉本ばななの 'Goodbye Tsugumi' を読んでいます。

Tsugumi stood up, padded over to the refrigerator, poured some wheat tea into the Mickey Mouse glass she'd gotten way back when as a giveaway at the liquor store, and gulped the liquid down. Then she plunked the empty glass down in the well-polished sink.

Tsugumi had finished drinking her juice. She leapt up nimbly, making a fast, whooshy sort of standing-up noise, and padded over to the railing, where she could look down on the street.

"pad" には詰め物をとか水増しの意味があるのは知っていますが、上の例では "padded over" は移動している状態を示しています。辞書を見ます。
