Good morning and thank you very much for your time to stop by English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to announce our first original unified test for our adult students in September.
Currently at English Plus, there are several English courses available, and one of them is "Conversation" course.
This course is good for those who would like to learn basic English and communicate in English more smoothly and accurately.
Each Conversation lesson is 90-minute and focusing on 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
During the lesson, there is enough time for our students to learn and practice communicating in English.
There are several different levels available and after completing each level, students need to take a level check exam.
This exam is usually carried out in March and September; however, because of COVID-19, we haven't done it recently.
Since we haven't been able to give an exam to our students, we decided to give all our adult students our original unified test this September.
We'd like to check how well they understand English and how much their English skills have improved since they began learning English with us.
The exam is going to be carried out between the week of September 14.
After the exam, we'll give each student some advice on what kind of study they should try from now in order to improve their English skills more effectively.
We'll continue checking our students' English skills regularly and helping their improvement constantly.

English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about the last one of our seven unique attempts to help students improve their English skills at our English school.
Our school, English Plus, is a small English school, but we're serious about helping our students improve their English skills, and we are trying to provide some supports and several approaches.
There are actually seven approaches we are trying to provide, and today let's check the last one.
The last one is about our student-centered lessons.
At English Plus, we provide lessons for adults (e.g. TOEIC exam preparation course, Skill-Up Conversation course, and so on), and for kids (e.g. Elementary school English course, and Junior high school English course).
No matter what lessons our students take, in each lesson, there is time for "learning" and "practicing" English.
In order for our students to learn English more effectively, each lesson has a lesson point and they learn the point by listening, speaking, reading and writing.
After they learn the lesson point fully, they practice English using the lesson point.
It's up to each student about how to use the lesson point during the lesson, and we encourage our students to use the point and communicate in English a lot.
To help them improve their communication skills, we have "student-centered lesson", and we try not to make "a teacher asks a question and a student answers" situation.
Instead, we try to make "student A asks a question to student B" situations in our lessons.
This communication between students requires some skills, such as "make a question and ask → listen to the question correctly → answer the question → make a reaction and ask a following question → continue..."
At English Plus, we help our students to acquire these basic English skills through our lessons and self-study support.
We'll continue supporting our students to improve their English skills from now on too.

Good morning and thanks a lot to read English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about one of our seven unique attempts to help students improve their English skills at our English school.
At our English school, there are several courses available and our students can take different types of lessons, such as TOEIC, Skill-Up Conversation, Power-Up Conversation, and so on.
If a seat is available, our students can take any lessons they want at our school.
Our school, English Plus, is a small English school, but we're serious about helping our students improve their English skills, and we are trying to provide some supports and several approaches.
There are actually seven approaches we are trying to provide, and today let's check another one of them.
The fourth one today is about training four skills through each lesson.
Even though each lesson's aim is different, our lessons require the students to use four skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Why students need to use all four skills in our lessons is we believe well-balanced English skills are important in order to acquire English communication skills, for instance, verbal communication requires listening and speaking skills.
Sending and receiving e-mail require writing and reading skills.
Therefore, in our lessons, students listen, speak, read and write English a lot through all our lessons.
I hope through our lessons, students can acquire well-balanced English skills and use English anytime, anywhere.
We are continuing to support our students to improve their English skills from now on too.

From October 1st, autumn season of this skill-up course starts, and if you are interested in learning basic English skills, this course might be good for you.

Today, I'd like to introduce one of English Plus' lesson programs.
There are several English lessons and courses available at English Plus, and if you would like to improve your TOEIC score, we recommend our "TOEIC preparation" lessons.
In this "TOEIC preparation" lesson, we focus on listening and reading parts.
In the listening lessons, our students learn each part (Part 1～4) weekly and try a variety of training in order to acquire good listening skills.
Although the main purpose of our listening lessons is for our students to get higher TOEIC score in the listening section, we want our students to have practical listening skills, which can be used in real communication situations.
In the reading lessons, they learn some basic grammar points, check their reading speed, learn and try some effective reading technique and so on in order to get good TOEIC score.
Even though the main purpose of our reading lessons is to get a better score, we care about after they get better score in the TOEIC test.
So, in our TOEIC course, we do some English training for our students to improve "Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing" in order to get well-balanced English skills.
Then, we believe they can get both good TOEIC score and practical English skills which can be used in real business situations.
Through English Plus' lessons, we really hope that our students can not only choose correct answers in the TOEIC but also have practical English skills.

Today, I'd like to introduce our new TOEIC exam course.
At English Plus, we have several courses available and one of them is TOEIC test preparation course, which is 90-min a lesson.
In this course, we focus on listening and reading part.
In the listening lessons, our students learn each part (Part 1～4) weekly and try a variety of training in order to acquire good listening skills.
The aim of our listening lessons is for our students to get good TOEIC score in the listening section as well as to have good listening skills, which can be used in real communication situations.
In the reading lessons, they learn some basic grammar points, check their reading speed, learn and try some effective reading technique and so on in order to get good TOEIC score in the reading section.
Even though the main purpose of our reading lessons is to get a good score, we care about our students' future.
We think about after they get good TOEIC score, so our reading lessons include learning some basic English and our students can be use it in business situations.
Through English Plus' lessons, we hope that our students can not only choose correct answers in the TOEIC but also have practical English skills.
Therefore, in our TOEIC course, we do some English training for our students to improve "Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing" to get well-balanced English skills.
For our students' improvement, we're using English Plus' original TOEIC textbooks.
We constantly review and change the contents of them.
Though we check them constantly, we just finished making a major improvement last week.
Because of this improvement, our students can challenge more questions in the lesson, try self-study easily, and so on.
We'll continue providing practical English lessons and supporting to help our students improve their English skills from now on too.
