Good afternoon and thank you for reading this blog!
Today, I’d like to write about my English school’s interior decorating.
Yesterday, my school’s interior decorating started.
I want to get some parts decorated, such as floor, wall, counter, and so on.
Yesterday, the first thing they did was a wall part and it was beautifully done!
(Actually, I got a partition attached to the wall.)
After I got the wall done, I removed the old wall myself to save money.
It took quite some time, but it was good experience.
I’ll do whatever I need to get my English school started!

本日は“英語学校スタートに向けた内装工事スタート”です。

昨日、英語学校の内装工事が始まりました。

フロアーや部屋の仕切り、カウンターの設置などお願いしている物があるのですが、昨日は壁の部分、レッスンの部屋の仕切りになるパーテーションを設置してもらいました。

パーテーションを設置していただいた後は、自分自身でお金の節約のために、今敷いてあるフロアの素材を剥がしました。

時間もそれなりにかかりましたが、良い経験となりました。

少しずつ英語学校スタートに向け前向きに前進していきたいと思います！

英語学校用の銀行口座開設

Good morning and thank you for your time to read this blog!
Today, I’d like to write about yesterday’s activity for my English school.
Yesterday, I went to some banks and asked about a bank account for my English school.
I personally felt that some banks didn’t care about small companies like mine, but others were very friendly and willing to help small companies.
After visiting a few banks, I decided to open my English school account at a bank which was very kind and polite.
To open my English school’s bank account, I needed my personal ID, personal seal, the form which I submitted to a tax office when I started my own business, and another piece of proof to show that my business exists.
Fortunately, last month I submitted a form to register my English school name, English Plus to the patent office in Tokyo, so I could show it to them and they seemed to be satisfied with it.
Finally, I was able to open my English school’s bank account!
I’ll just take the next step for my English school to get started!

本日は“英語学校用の銀行口座開設”です。

昨日は、英語学校の銀行口座開設のため田町にあるいくつかの銀行を回ってきました。

銀行により対応はまちまちで、個人的には大手の銀行によって、小企業を大切に扱ってくれる銀行さんと、そうでない銀行さんがあるように感じられました。

いくつかの銀行を訪れた後、親切で対応の良かった銀行で口座を開設することにしました。

英語学校は個人事業でスタートするのですが、講座を開設することに決めた銀行さんでは身分証明書、印鑑、個人事業開業届出書に加え、事業を営んでいる証拠を提出する必要がありました。

いろいろと書類は用意していったのですが、一番良かったのは、昨月特許庁に提出した商標登録の控えの書類だったようで、無事に銀行開設ができました！

英語学校スタートに向け、毎日前向きに準備です！！

英語講師の留学経験 - トロントのスーパーマーケットとスーパーで役に立つ英語トリビア

This time, I'd like to write about one of my favorite supermarkets in Toronto, Canada and useful English there.
It was just coincidence, but wherever I lived in Toronto, there was “No frills”, which is a supermarket, near my place.
The first place I started living was near Runnymede station and there was No frills.
Another time I lived was near Dufferin station and there was No frills.
The other time was near Sherbourne station, and there was No frills too.
The prices of products at No frills were not expensive, and it was very convenient for me to go grocery shopping anytime!
As you may know, supermarkets in Canada (or in the U.S.) are much bigger than those in Japan, and they have a wide variety of food!!
However, the bad point is that supermarkets are too big and sometimes it’s not easy to get what I want at a supermarket.
In this situation, let's learn the following knowledge of vocabulary because it might help you at a supermarket!
If you go to a supermarket and look for something, you should look for a sign like these…
・frozen food section
・produce section
・deli section
・beverage section
・snack section
・beauty section
・meat section
・bakery / pastry section
・dairy section
Hopefully, this knowledge will help you somehow in the future!

トロントで暮らしていた頃、自分が借りた家（部屋）の近くには必ずと言っていいほど偶然にも、”No frills”というスーパーマーケットがありました。

トロントで初めてお借りした家（部屋）はRunnymede駅の近くで、No frillsがありましたし、引っ越した後のDufferin駅の近くにもNo frillsがあり、Sherbourne駅の近くの家ではNo frillsが目の前にあるような環境でした。

No frillsで取り扱っている商品の価格はとてもリーズナブルで、いつも近くにあったためとても重宝しました。

ご存知の通り、カナダのスーパーマーケットは規模が大きく品揃えも豊富ですが、反面、欲しい物がすぐに見つけにくいという面もあります。

そんな時に知っておくと便利なのが以下のスーパーマーケットでよく見かけるサインの英語のトリビアです。

例えば・・・

・deli section（惣菜コーナー）

英語学校スタートのための家具チェック

Good morning and thank you for your time to check out this blog.
How's your weekend so far?
Yesterday, there were a lot of things to do, so I didn't have so much time but I went to IKEA, which is a world-famous furniture shop to check some furniture for my English school.
I checked desks for classroom, chairs, tables for English cafe, sofa, and some other small stuff.
I really didn't have time to check those enough...I mean I just had 1 hour to check so I'll place an order the next time!!
I'll spend my time more wisely and do the best!!

本日は“英語学校スタートのための家具チェック”です。

昨日は、やるべきことがたくさんあり、あまり時間がありませんでしたが、カナダにもある家具のお店（IKEA）へ行き、英語学校に必要な家具などを見てきました。

本当に時間がなかったため、すべてを見ることはできませんでしたが、英語学校で使う机や椅子、カフェで使うソファーなどいろいろチェックしてきました。

昨日は１時間で見て回ったのですが、次回行く時にはもう少し時間を作り、いろいろと購入したいと思います。

英語学校スタートまで残り時間も僅かなので、時間をもっと有効に使っていきたいと思います！

英語学校スタートに向けての基本的なスクール規約作成

Good morning and thank you for your time to check out this blog!
Today, I'd like to write about what I did for my English school to get started yesterday.
Yesterday, I was making a basic school rule for my English school.
I knew a little bit about a school rule since I worked for an English conversation school in Japan.
Though I knew a bit about it, it was my first time to "make it", so just in case, I referred to other English schools' rules.
What I found out was that I had to include several basic points, such as payment method, lesson and so on.
September is coming soon, so I'll do what I need to do for my English school!

昨日は英語学校の基本的な規約（ルール）の作成をしていました。

以前、大手英会話教室に勤めていたこともあり、規約に関しては少し知っていましたが、“規約の作成”は初めてでしたので、念のため他の英語学校さんの規約も参考にさせていただきました。

ほとんどの規約には“支払い方法”や“レッスンに関して”のことなど、基本的なことが網羅されていることがわかりました。

９月まで残り僅か、規約も少しずつ作成すると同時にしっかりと他の準備もしていきたいと思います。

How are you?以外のすぐに使える英語での挨拶の表現

Good morning and I appreciate your reading this blog!
Today, let’s learn some usual greeting expressions in English.
It’s because of the English education in Japan, a lot of Japanese people use “How are you?” as a typical greeting expression.
Before I studied and lived in Toronto, Canada, I also thought “How are you?” was the most common greeting expression.
However, it turned out “not.”
After I stayed there, I learned that there are several greeting expressions beside “How are you?”
For example, some other common greeting expressions that native English speakers use are the following…
“How’re you doing?”
“How’s everything?”
“How’s your work?”
“How’s your business?”
“How’s your family?
To respond to these greetings, you can say “Pretty good. How about you?” or “Not bad. You?” or something else.
Enjoy a wide variety of English greetings!!

日本の英語教育が一旦かとも思いますが、多くの日本人の方は”How are you?”という挨拶の表現を多用します。

自分もトロント・カナダに留学する前までは、同様に”How are you?”が一番使われている挨拶の表現だと思っていました。

が、“違う”ことに気付きました。
トロント・カナダに滞在してからは、”How are you?”以外にいろいろな挨拶の表現を聞く・使う機会が増えました。

英語を第一言語として話している人たちが多く使う挨拶の表現としては以下のものがあります。

例えば・・・

“How’re you doing?”

“How’s everything?”

“How’s your work?”

“How’s your business?”

“How’s your family?

これらの挨拶の表現に対して、”I’m fine”の他に”Pretty good. How about you?”や”Not bad. You?”などの表現を続けることができます。

いろいろと違う表現を使ってみましょう！

すぐに使える英語でのリアクション（反応）の表現

Good morning and I appreciate your checking out this blog!
Today, let’s learn “reaction” in English.
In our daily conversation, needless to say, (in Japanese or English) reaction is important.
Reaction means you are listening to the speaker and showing that you understand him/her.
So, today, let’s learn some expressions to respond!!
There are several situations, so let’s see one by one!
“Respond with interested”
・Oh, really?
“Respond with Good news”
・That’s great
“Respond with Bad news”
・That’s too bad.
・Oh, no!
“Showing surprise”
・I can’t believe it.
To continue and enjoy more communication in English, you can add some questions related to the conversation topic!

日常の会話の中では、言うまでもなく（日本語・英語に関わらず）リアクション（反応）はとても大切です。

リアクションをすることで、話し手に対して（聞き手が）ちゃんと聞いていることを伝えたり、理解を示すことができます。

今日はそんなリアクションに使える英語を学んでいきたいと思います。

ただリアクションと言っても状況によりますので、１つ１つ取り上げていきます。

例えば、“もっと話してに話して欲しい時のリアクションは・・・”
・Oh, really?

“良い話を聞いたときのリアクションは・・・”
・That’s great

“あまり良くない話を聞いたときのリアクションは・・・”
・That’s too bad.
・Oh, no!

“驚きを表現したい時のリアクションは・・・”
・I can’t believe it.

これら上記のリアクションの表現に加え、話題に関連する質問をすることで、一層英語コミュニケーションを楽しむことができると思います！

TOEICのリスニングパートにも効果的な英語のスピードに慣れるための速音読トレーニングのすすめ

Today, I’m going to introduce a good training method to improve listening skill in order to get used to the speed of natural English!

The training I’m going to introduce from now on is good for those who want to get used to the speed of natural English and this is effective for TOEIC listening.
Here is how…
1. Pick up CD which contains a conversation (dialogue)
2. Listen to it with the script (*Check the pronunciation)
3. Read it out loud with the CD
4. Stop the CD and read the conversation out loud as fast as you can
5. Continue reading it out loud as fast as you can 5 times (*without CD)
6. Read it out loud again with the CD
If you continue training, naturally, you ears will be able to catch some English and get used to native English speakers’ speaking speed!
If you doubt it, just try it first!

今日おすすめの速音読トレーニングは“自然な英語のスピードに慣れたい方”また“TOEICのスピードに慣れたい方”にとても効果があるので、おすすめです。

早速ですが、トレーニング方法の紹介です。

１．英会話（２人の会話 - Dialogue）が入っているＣＤを選びます

２．発音を確認するようにスクリプトを見ながらＣＤを聞きます

３．今度はＣＤと同時に音読します（スクリプトを見ながら）

４．ＣＤを一旦止め、自分の一番早く英語を読めるスピードで音読をします（スクリプトを見ながら）

５．上記の４と同じＣＤなしの速音読トレーニングを５回繰り返します。

６．最後にＣＤをかけ、ＣＤと同時に音読でスピードの確認をします。

この速音読トレーニングを続けますと、自然と英語のスピードに慣れてきます。

TOEICの教材でもこのトレーニングは実行可能なので、TOEICのスピードに慣れたい方は是非お試しを！

渋谷でのこども英語イベントの感想

Good morning, and thank you for your checking out this blog!
Today, I'd like to mention an event yesterday.
The event was about 30-minute English lesson for kids, and it was held at a bookstore, Junkudo in Shibuya yesterday.
Some kids joined the event even though the weather wasn't good.
(I really appreciate their joining and I also would like to thank to the staff members at Junkudo for their support.)
The lesson was about numbers and I prepared a lot of games to master numbers.
The kids, who participated in the event, seemed to enjoy the game and mastered numbers in English!
Like the last time I taught colors, I found some points to improve in my English teaching.
So, I'll prepare for the next lesson with what I learned yesterday!

本日は“渋谷でのこども英語イベントの感想”です。

昨日は、渋谷の本屋さん（Junkudo）において、３０分間の子供対象の英語イベント（レッスン）をしてきました。

天気があまり良くなかったのですが、何名かの子供がイベントに参加してくれました。
（参加いただいた皆様ありがとうございました。また、スタッフの皆様のサポートに感謝いたします）

昨日のレッスンのポイントは“数”で、いろいろなゲームを事前に用意しておきました。

イベントに参加してくれた子供たちは、ゲームを楽しんでくれたようで、数字もしっかりマスターしていました。

前回（２週間前）のイベントと同じように、いくつかのポイントで自分のティーチングの未熟さに気付きましたが、次回のレッスンのために学んだポイントは活かしていきたいと思います！！
