英語学校の物件さがしの旅

今日は会話のレッスンが２件東京都内であります。
いつもご受講いただきありがとうございます。

本日は“英語学校の物件さがしの旅”についてです。

昨日は暑い中、自分の足で物件の様子や周囲の状況などをチェックする“英語学校の物件さがしの旅”をしてきました。

主に川崎市の小田急線沿い・新百合ヶ丘駅～生田駅の周辺や商店街を旅してきました。

初めて行く土地はいつも新鮮で、いろいろな情報を得ることができました。

インターネットで情報収集もいいのですが、やはり自分の足で“歩いて”、その地を“見て”、何かを“感じる”ことは重要なことだとつくづく思います。

今回の旅の成果として何件か気になる物件があったので、少し検討してから不動産屋さんに問い合わせてみようと思います。

本日の英語での一言："Strive for your objective"（目標に向かって努力！！）

Good morning.
Hot days are continuing, so please take care of yourself.
Yesterday, I organized and took an original building-check tour in Kawasaki.
Mainly, I visited Shinyurigaoka and near there along Odakyu line, and checked some buildings around the stations and shopping streets.
It was my first time to visit there so everyghing was new and I was able to find some useful information.
I usually get building info on the web, but I really feel "visiting there" is the best info!!
I was able to get some info about available buildings, so I'll think about these and ask their real estate agencies later.
What I need to do now is to "strive for my objective!!"

本日は“英語講師の留学経験（キューバ旅行 前編）”です。

あまり知られていませんが、カナダの人々は休暇のためキューバを訪れます。

アメリカとキューバの関係で、アメリカからの入国は禁止されていることもあり、旅行している人はほとんど“カナダからの人”と言っても過言ではないくらいです。

自分も２００８年の９月に行く機会があり、初めてキューバはバラデロというリゾート地で休暇を過ごしてきました。

これはツアーで行ってきたのですが、驚きなのがその価格！！

１週間のツアーで、飛行機（トロント～バラデロ往復）＋ホテル＋アルコール含む食事込みで約５００００円でした。

お時間がある方・ゆっくしたい方には、カナダへ行ったついでにキューバへ行くこともおすすめします。

英語はほとんど通じないので、せめて"Thank you"にあたるスペイン語"gracias"は覚えて行きましょう！！

How was your weekend?
Did you go anywhere? Did you go abroad this weekend?
Well, not so many people know this fact that a lot of Canadians visit Cuba for their vacation.
It's not exaggerating to say that due to the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba, most of the tourists in Cuba come from Canada.
I had a chance to visit there in September, 2008 for vacation.
I took a package tour to Varadero, Cuba.
It was surprisingly cheap, just about 50000!!
It included round trip tickets between Toronto and Varadero, accomodation, meals, and drink including alcohol.
If you want to relax, you must visit Cuba as well as Canada.
Actually, in Cuba, they don't speak English at all, I recommend you master "gracias" which means "thank you."

YouTubeを使った楽しくできる英語学習

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。

本日は“YouTubeを使った楽しくできる英語学習”についてです。

この学習方法で“リスニング＋英語のリズム”のトレーニングができます。

やり方はいたって簡単！

１．検索部分に“好きな洋楽のタイトル・歌手名”＋“歌詞”を入れる。

例えば・・・

"The Beatles + lyrics"と検索。


２．一度まずは画面を見ながら聞く（英語の音のつながりに注目してみましょう）

３．もう一度再生し、リズムに合わせながら歌詞を見て一緒に歌う

４．もう一度再生、但しこの時は画面を見ずに、（一緒に歌いながら）聞こえてくる英語を紙に書き取る（最初の３行のみでもOK)

５．最後に書き取った文章を画面で確認

以上で終了です。

はじめての方にはゆっくりめの曲：例えばBeatlesがおすすめです。

このトレーニングを一週間続けますと、徐々に英語のリズムに体が慣れてきます。

今日から挑戦！"Today is the day to kick off!!"

Good morning!
How often do you watch YouTube?
As for me, I sometimes use YouTube for my English study.
The way to carry out this training is easy and it strengthens your listening skill & English rhythm.
All you have to do is the next five steps.
1. In the search box, type "singer / title of a song" + "lyrics" (e.g. "The Beatles + lyrics")
2. Play it with looking at the lyrics (Focus on the links between English words)
3. Play it again and sing the song together with the rhythm
4. Play it again but don't look at the lyrics and dictate a few lines (the first 3 lines are fine)
5. Check the sentences you've just dictated with the lyrics on the screen
That's all.
For beginners, I recommend "The Beatles" because their songs are slow and easy to follow.
After you continue this training for a week, you'll have English rhythm in your body.
"Today is the day to kick off!"

英語講師の留学経験 （オレンジジュースの巻）

本日はもう一つの“自分の周りの不思議なカナダ文化（オレンジジュース編）”を紹介したいと思います。

今日も暑くなりそうです。

トロントの夏は日本よりもからっと暑く、冬にはものすごく寒くなります。
春と秋の期間はとても短いです。

カナダ（トロント）に住んでいた時、気候の急な移り変わりになどにより体調が悪くなる時がありました。

体調が悪くなると言っても大抵、風邪の症状なのですが、こんな時にカナディアンの友達が自分に言ってくれるいつものアドバイスが・・・

"You should drink Orange Juice."
（オレンジジュース飲んだほうがいいよ）

なのです。

最初は冗談で言っているのかと思ったのですが、その後も他のカナディアンの友達も同じ事を言ってくるので、

彼らは本気で“オレンジジュースで風邪が良くなる”と思って言ってくれているのだと思います。

もちろん、アドバイス通り“１００％オレンジジュース”を飲みました！！

“オレンジジュースのお陰で症状が良くなったのか”は結局わからずじまいのまま・・・でしたが、その後回復したことは確かです。

風邪気味の人は"You ought to try Orange Juice!"

Hi, any plans for this weekend?
It's really hot in Japan...I don't know that's why or not, but my condition isn't so good that I have canker sores in my mouth now.
When I was in Toronto, Canada, I was sometimes in a condition like my current condition which is similar to a kind of light cold.
Whenever my Canadian noticed my bad condition, he always said "you should drink Orange Juice."
At first I thought it was just a Canadian joke.
However, other people also gave me the same advice of "drinking Orange juice!!"
Then, I realized that they really think "Orange juice is good for a cold."
Of course I took their advice and drank 100% Orange juice and my condition became better, but frankly I still don't know whether it was the Orange juice itself OR my natural healing system that recovers me.
Anyway, if you are in a bad condition, try drinking Orange Juice!!

英語学校設立のための物件探し

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。

昨日は、川崎市内・主に武蔵小杉地域（武蔵小杉、平間、新丸子）駅周辺やその周辺の商店街などを見てきました。

武蔵小杉はとにかく"skyscraper（大きなビル）"が多く、地域によっては何となく横浜に似ていると思いました。

また、横須賀線の開通や再開発地域に指定されていることもあり、個人的に武蔵小杉の可能性を大いに感じることができました。

物件の収穫としましては、何件か条件があいそうな物件を発見・問い合わせしたものの、予算を少しオーバーしていたり、１階店舗でなかったりと自分の条件に限りなくマッチする物件と出会うことは残念ながら昨日はできませんでした。

が、時間のある限りあぎらめず再チャレンジです！
（次回は少し足を伸ばし多摩川を超え、東京側もチェックです！！）

How's your morning today?
As for me, great!
Yesterday, I visited Kawasaki-city, mainly Musashi-Kosugi area including Musashi-Kosugi station, Hirama station, and Shinmaruko station in order to check some available buildings around the station, and some shopping streets.
I personally thought there are a lot of skyscrapers in Musashi-Kosugi and the city looks like Yokohama somehow.
Also, the area is designated as urban renewal one, and I felt that the area has a lot of potential for growth.
Though I walked a lot and found some good available buildings, the rent was over my budget or they were not the first floor, so unfortunately I couldn't find one that matches my conditions yesterday.
Anyway, I'll try again and again until I find the one!!
I believe that "there is definitely the one I'm looking for!!"

本日の英語学校設立に向けての準備

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。

本日は“英語学校設立に向けての準備”についてです。

最近は少しレッスンで忙しく、ビジネス関係は・・・少しお休みの状態でした。

今日からレッスンのペースも落ち着くので、優先順位をしっかり決め“やるべきこと”を一つずつクリアしていきたいと思います。

具体的には・・・
・ホームページの作成
・企業の理念や概要を書き出すこと
・店舗や周辺のチェック
などです。

２０１１年まで残るところ約４ヶ月！！

正直忙しい毎日ですが、将来、もっと充実の毎日にできるよう今日一日を前向きに進んでいきます！！

そんな今日の英語："Be positive and everything will turn out great!!"（前向きでいればいいことあるさ！！）

Good morning, how are you doing?
I've been busy with English lessons recently, so I haven't touched any business stuff for a while.
So, today, I'd like to talk about "Preparation for establishing my English school."
Actually, my schedule's going to be not too busy, so I'll have to decide "What I really need to do & put priority!!"
The things I need to do is...
・make my homepage
・decide company policy and philosophy
・check prospective shops and around there
etc...
I have only 4 months to go until 2011!!
I'll make all my efforts to make my dream come true!!
I need to keep in mind that "Be positive and everything will turn out great!!"

すぐに使える英語 （ネイティブスピーカーの表現）

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。
今日は東京都内で２件レッスンがあります。
しっかり“目標”が達成できるようにがんばっていきましょう！！

本日は“すぐに使える英語 - ネイティブがよく使う表現にふれてみたいと思います。

一般的でお馴染のこのフレーズ：

"You know"

ネイティブの英語や第二言語として英語を使っている人の話をよく聞きますと、この"You know"という表現がたくさんでてきます。

"You know"の意味は、日本語の“えーと・・・”に相当するものとして解釈すればいいと思います。

個人的には、この表現は特にスポーツ選手がよく使っている、という印象があります。

もし、話の途中で間合いを入れたい場合はこの"you know"を使ってみましょう！
ただし、頻繁に使いすぎるとクセになってしまう可能性があるので気をつけましょう！

Hi, it's great morning, isn't it?
I have two lessons in Tokyo today and thanks for taking my lessons.
Hopefully, all of my students can make their dreams come true!!
Today's topic is about common native English speaker's expression - "you know."
When I talk to not only native English speakers, but also those who use English as a second language, I hear them say "You know" quite often.
In Canada while watching sports news, I heard a lof of athletes say "you know", so I have an impression that "you know" is mainly used by professional athletes...I don't know why though.
If you can use "you know" naturally, I think your English skills have improved.
Pleas try to use it, but be careful not to use tooooo much because it'll probably become your habit!!

英語講師のコーヒーショップ巡り

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。
本日は東京都内で何件かレッスンがあります。
いつもご受講いただきありがとうございます。

今日は“英語講師の個人的な趣味-コーヒーショップ巡り”に関してです。

現在、個人的にカフェなどで英語レッスンをしていることもあり、たくさんのカフェ・喫茶店を訪れる機会があります。

レッスンでよく使うお気に入りのカフェとして EXCELSIOR CAFE(エクセルシオールカフェ)、Tully's coffee(タリーズコーヒー)、Doutor（ドトール）、Veloche（ベローチェ）などがあるのですが、

個人的にプライベートで最近のお気に入りのカフェと言えば“コメダ珈琲店”です。

ここのブレンドコーヒーが個人的に最近のお気に入りのコーヒーです。

また、ここではオリジナルの“シロノワール”というクロワッサンの食感のパンケーキの上にソフトクリームがのっているスイーツがブレンドコーヒーとよく合います。

それでは今日の英語表現（食事・飲み物の注文の仕方）："Can I have (Shironoir), please?"（シロノワールいただけますか？）

Good morning!
I have some lessons in Tokyo today and I really appreciate taking my lessons!!
Today's topic is about my hobby, visiting cafe.
Currently, I teach English at a cafe and I have an opportunitiy to visit a lot of cafes and coffee shops.
I generally use EXCELSIOR CAFE, Tully's coffee, Doutor, Veloche, and so on in my lessons, but in my private time I often visit Komeda's Coffee these days.
Their blend coffee is my favorite drink and their original sweet "Shironoir" matches the coffee very well, I personally think.
This Shironoir is like a pancake which tastes like croissant with soft serve on it.
If you have a chance, please try it!!
I guess you won't regret it.
By the way, when ordering food at a cafe, you can use this expression: "Can I have (Shironoir), please?"

手軽にできる英語能力の伸ばし方

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。
今日は東京都内でレッスンが何件かあります。
いつもレッスンをご受講いただきありがとうございます。

本日は“英語能力の伸ばし方”についてです。

英語能力を伸ばすことに関していろいろなトレーニングの方法はありますが、

手軽にできる方法として“E-mailや携帯でのメールのやりとりを英語でする”という方法があります。

最初は"Good morning" や "Hello" "How are you?" などの挨拶だけでもいいので友達・家族・知り合いとすると効果的です。
後々、１文を２文に、２文を３文にと徐々に増やしていってみましょう！！

まずは挨拶から始めてみましょう！

Good morning!!
I have a couple of lessons in Tokyo today and thanks for taking my lesson as always.
Today, I'd like to write about "How to improve your English skills."
There are a lof of ways to improve your English skills, but one of the easiest ways to carry out is "writing E-mail or textmessage in English."
If you have never sent email or textmessage in English, please try with easy greeting like "Good morning", "Hello" or "How are you?" with your friends and your family members!!
Then, when you get used to this way, you can add one sentence by one sentence.
Now is the time to get started!!

英語講師の留学経験 (周りの不思議なカナダ文化)

おはようございます。英語講師のarataです。

本日は“自分の周りの不思議なカナダ文化”を紹介したいと思います。

ご存知かと思いますが、トロントはカナダ国内では南に位置しています。

が、緯度では日本の北海道オホーツク・網走と同じくらいに位置しますので冬はかなり寒くなります。

冬の間の平均気温は－１０℃～－２０℃で体感気温は－３０℃になることもあるくらい冬は寒くなります。

しかし、自分の周りのカナディアンやカナダに長く住む友達・知り合いはこのような気候でもいつも、“Tシャツ＋ダウンジャケット”というスタイルでした。

理由を聞くと“暑い”とのこと・・・

確かに“外は寒い”のですが、建物の中に一度入ると“決して寒くはない”ので理由はわかるのですが、“Tシャツ”＋“ジャケット”・・・
Hmm...

こんな時のことわざ："When in Rome, do as the Romans do" (郷に入らば郷に従え)

Wonderful weekend!
As you probably know that Toronto is located in the South part of Canada, but the
Latitude is 43°N, which is almost the same as Ohotsuku area in Hokkaido.
Therefore, during the winter time, it's quite cold.
The average temperature in winter is about -10℃ to -20℃ and sometimes we feel -30℃ with cold wind.
However, in this severe winter, to my surprise the Canadians around me or my frineds or acquaintances always wear "T-shirt + jacket."
Their reason is "it's hot."
I understand outside is very cold, and inside building is warm, but why "T-shirt & jacket"???
Hmm...maybe I should follow their customs as a proverb says:
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do"
