おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力をつけていこう ～ ９月のレッスンの復習（日本語編）”です。

English Plusではレッスン中、受講生に間違いを恐れることなく英語を話してもらうようにサポートしています。

学んだ語彙・文法を使って、できる限り“自分の言葉で英文を作り、英語でコミュニケーションをしてもらう”ようにしています。

レッスン内では、様々な会話のトピック（自分のことや、日常生活、社会一般の事など）の中で、時には話すのが難しい話題になったりもしますが、レッスン受講生は自分の持っている英語力を駆使してがんばっています。

English Plusでは、どのような場面やトピックでも自分の英語力で乗り切れるえるように、基礎の部分となる基礎英語力（自分で英文が自由に作れる英語力）のアップをレッスンで主にサポートしていますが、その基礎英語力の大事な中の１つに“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”があります。

今日はこの“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”の復習と題し、９月のレッスンの受講生の英語の間違いから英語の復習・トレーニングをしていきたいと思います。

早速、下記の５文の間違いを探してみましょう。

1. I took 1 hour to finish my homework.

2. I'm going to check my health at the hospital next week.

3. I went to shopping last weekend.

4. My friend do the laundry in the morning.

5. I am study English every day.

Today, I'd like to write about a tip about how to acquire English skills.
In my opinion as an English instructor, there are five important tips to acquire English skills.
Two of the tips I've already introduced in this blog are "vocabulary and grammar", and "listening."
Today, I'd like to write about the third one "speaking and writing."
Needless to say, learning vocabulary and grammar, and improving listening skills are essential to communicate in English.
In addition to these, practicing output (speaking & writing) is also important to communicate in English.
To improve output skills, we need a lot of practice!
So, what I suggest here is we should speak English when we have a chance (e.g. take lessons at English Plus) or write English (e.g. keep a diary.)
If you want to improve output skills, you should speak or write English every day!
During 90-min lessons at English Plus, you have a lot of time to speak English and also after lessons you have homework to write English sentences every day.
We are serious about supporting our students to improve their English skills.

Today, I'd like to write about how to increase vocabulary.
At English Plus, we tell our students that doing self-study is as important as taking lessons because self-study, such as reviewing lessons, doing the homework and so on, is the key to improve English skills!
So, we provide not only English lessons, but self-study support.
The other day, one of our students asked for a suggestion about self-study.
The problem was "I can't memorize vocabulary."
There could be a lot of possible answers to this problem, and what I suggested was...
"Try to link a word with the same meaning word." (synonym)
For example, if you want to memorize the vocabulary "confirm", you should learn the same meaning vocabulary, such as "check."
It depends on a sentence, but you may not be able to replace the same meaning word in some sentences.
However, if you know the synonym, you can guess the meaning of the vocabulary easily!
Let's make time to do self-study and improve English skills!

Today, I'd like to write about how to increase vocabulary.
At English Plus, we tell our students that doing self-study is as important as taking lessons.
We recommend our students that they review lessons, do the homework, and so on in their self-study since self-study is the key to improve English skills!
Therefore, we provide not only English lessons, but self-study support.
Our students are as busy as you are; however, they usually take regular lessons and after that they do self-study! (Great job!)
The other day, one of our students asked me a question about self-study.
The question was "My vocabulary is not enough to communicate in English well so I'd like to increase vocabulary, but I don't know how."
There could be a lot of possible answers to answer this question and what I suggested was...
"Try to learn how to use vocabulary in a sentence. (Don't try to memorize only vocabulary.)"
For example, if you want to learn the vocabulary "prefecture", you should learn the vocabulary in a sentence like this "I live in Kanagawa prefecture."
One advantage of this way is you can learn how to use vocabulary.
After you improve your English skills, you can change this sentence more easily, such as "She lives in Kanagawa prefecture." "My friend used to live in Kanagawa prefecture." and so on.
Let's make time to study English and improve English skills!

Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' space.
At English Plus, there is self-study space.
At this self-study place, there are some sample English textbooks, CDs for learning English, and CD players available for those who would like to use them and study English.
So, you can use this self-study space like these...
"do the homework"
"review the lessons"
"use audio CD and do some listening training"
"study grammar"
and so on.
If you are a student, you can ask our staff for self-study advice, and also, if you have some questions about English, you can ask us!
Even though this place is mainly for our students, our cafe customers can use here too!
This self-study space is available from 10:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, and 10:00 to 15:30 on Saturdays.

本日は“英語の基礎トレーニング ～ 英語を英語で考えてみよう！（職業に関する英語その４ ～ トレーニング編）”です。

英語を学習する時、色々なトレーニング方法がありますが“英語を英語で考える”トレーニングもおすすめです。

このトレーニングには、英語を“読んで、理解し、考える”プロセスが必要で、英語を英語で考えるトレーニングになります。

今日は、下記の２つの英文を読んで理解し、その職業を考えてみましょう！

1. I cut meat. ＝ b_____

2. I correct homework. ＝ t_____

様々な英単語が考えられるかと思いますが、上記のアルファベットから始まる英語を考えてみましょう！

Today, let's learn some English phrases!
At English Plus' school, all of our students take a test every time they attend a lesson.
The test is from a homework book we assign and what our students have to do is composing some English sentences.
It takes a few minutes to complete the test.
After the test the other day, I checked their answers and returned the test.
Then, I heard a student mumble "yapparine..."
This "yapparine" is often used in Japan and today let's learn this phrase in English.
"I thought so."
"That's what I thought."
"I knew it."
When you want to say "yapparine" in English, please try to use these phrases!
By the way, with our Skill-Up course, students can improve basic English skills to compose sentences freely.

How are you doing?
Thank you for reading my blog today too.
Yesterday, I received a kind of "great Christmas present" from one of my students.
The present was the result of the TOEIC score she took last month.
She showed me the result and it proved that her score increased by 110 points - Listening 30 points up & Reading 80 points up!!

I was really delighted to hear the news since I’ve been teaching her TOEIC course for 4 months.
It's, of course, mainly her incessant efforts to improve not only her TOEIC score, but her total English skills!!
During lesson with her, she always jots down words that she doesn’t know, and summarizes the lesson point after lesson in her free time!!
Needless to say, she always does her homework, and listens to English anytime she has too!!
I'll support her in order to improve her skill and TOEIC score more and more!!
Like her, hopefully all of English learners enjoy learning & communicating in English, and at the same time improving English ability & TOEIC score too!!

昨日は、ある意味で“英語講師としてのクリスマスプレゼント”を一人の生徒の方からいただきました。

プレゼントは１１月に行われた159回TOEIC公開テストの結果で、前回の158回TOEIC公開テストよりも合計１１０点上がっていました！！（リスニング３０点アップ/リーディング８０点アップ）

この４ヶ月間TOEICを集中的に教えてきただけに、しっかりと結果を残してくれたことが、とても嬉しく思います。

英語講師として、この生徒の方のTOEIC１１０点アップの秘訣は“絶え間のない、英語力を伸ばす努力”だと思います。

カフェでのレッスン中では、知らない単語はすべてノートに書き取り、後で調べ・まとめておく努力をしていたり、レッスンのポイントがわかりやすいように別のノートでまとめています。

また、いつも宿題はきちんとこなし、通勤途中など時間のある時は英語を聞くなど、“英語力を伸ばす努力が結果に結びついた”と思います。

今後もしっかりとサポートし、（本人が望む限り）もっと点数アップを狙いたいと思います！！
