本日のブログは“新型コロナウィルスに関しての英語表現「日本ではコロナウィルスの状況が徐々に良くなってきています」と伝えたい時に使える英語（日本語編）”です。

日本のみならずアメリカやカナダのテレビやラジオ、インターネットのニュースでも毎日取り上げられているように、最近のニュースの話題は専らコロナウィルスですが、国によっては第二波の影響が見られる等、全体的に状況は悪化していると報道されています。

現在、世界中で問題になっているコロナウィルスですが、日本においても世界でも現段階ではいつ完全に収束するかわからない状況です。

このような状況でも、海外の方（ビジネス上でお付き合いのある方、お客様、同僚、友人等）と英語でのメールやメッセージをやり取りをされる方もいらっしゃるかと思います。

この状況で「日本ではコロナウィルスの状況が徐々に良くなってきています」と伝えたい時もあるかと思いますので、今日はこの英語表現を学習していきたいと思います。

Today, let's learn some English expressions from recent news topic of Coronavirus.
These days, we hear or see the news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites every day.
They say more and more people are still infected with the Coronavirus all around the world.
In some places, we can see the second wave of COVID-19 is hitting and the situation is getting worse.
This is surely bad news for people around the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down soon and things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
Under this circumstance, some of us might need to send or might have a chance to send messages to someone in English.
In this situation, we can report the situation in our country to our business clients, foreign colleagues, friends.
So, today, let's learn some expressions about the current COVID-19 situation in English.

・The situation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Japan is getting better little by little.
・It seems that the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is under control in Japan.

Today, I'd like to write about one of the benefits of small class size.
At English Plus, the number of students in each class is between one and four.
Between one and four students in one class is called "small class size."
Small class size has some benefits compared with "one-to-one (private) class", "medium number (about 5~10 students) class" and "big number (about 10~25 students) class."
One benefit of small class size is for example, it is the most effective class size to learn basic English skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) and practice communicative English.
From instructor's view, another small number class lessons' benefit is...
"a teacher can control a lesson and can make the lesson more useful for students."
Through lessons, a teacher can see each student's strength/weakness in their English skills.
If a teacher can understand students' strength and weakness or their purposes to study English, it's possible to add some learning points flexibly during the lesson.
Small class size means a teacher can teach English more flexibly.

ビジネスの場において、初対面の方と会って、一番始めにすることの１つは自己紹介だと思います。

自己紹介の仕方には色々とありますが、例えば、自分の名前や、勤務先の会社名、会社でどのような仕事をしているのか、などを紹介することが可能だと思います。

またその他には、自分が働いている部署をいうことも可能です。

そんな今日は英語での“自分が働いている部署の言い方”を学んでいきたいと思います。

Today, I'd like to recommend morning English study.
Since I started teaching English in the morning in 2010, I know learning English in the morning is great!
There are several reasons I can say morning English study is great, for instance, we have a positive energy to learn something new in the morning, we can easily make this morning study our routine, we can control morning time more flexibly and so on.
Personally whenever I can, I study English in the morning before lessons start at English Plus!
Actually, in the morning study, you can do anything you want!
For example, if you want to improve your speaking, I recommend Ondoku training, which is reading out loud training.
At our English school, we have morning lessons starting at 7:10!
So, if you are into them, please ask us!

本日は“時間を有効に使える“朝”の英語学習のすすめ”です。

約２年前に朝の英語レッスンを始めましたが、以来、朝の英語学習の良さにいろいろと気付くことができました、例えば…

・朝のほうが何か新しいことを学ぶことに意欲的な点

・朝の学習は習慣化しやすい点

・忙しい人でも朝の時間は比較的コントロールしやすい点などです。

個人的にも時間がある時には、English Plusのレッスン前の朝の英語学習をしています。
（時間は３０分と長くありませんが、音読や新しい語彙などを学んでいます）

朝の学習時間は何をしても効果的で個人的にも良いと思いますので、例えば“英語を話したい”方には“テキスト＋CDを使っての音読”をおすすめします。

Good morning, and thank you for your visit!
Today, I’d like to write about the number of students in each lesson at English Plus.
Currently in English schools in Japan, there are varieties of styles of English lessons going on, such as “one-to-one”, “small number (about 2-5) of students”, “big number (more than 6 or so) of students.”
Through my career as an English teacher, I've experienced teaching all of the lessons above.
When I worked at one of the biggest English conversation schools in Japan, I experienced teaching “man-to-man lesson”, “small number (maximum 5) of students lesson”, and “medium number (maximum 8) of students lesson.”
When I was teaching English in Toronto, Canada, I experienced teaching “a larger class of maximum 10 students / class.”
Also, when I was working for vocational school in Tokyo, Japan, I taught translation / interpretation / TOEIC courses in a “big class of approximately 10~20 students.”
Each style has its pros and cons, and at my English school I decided to choose "a small number class of minimum 1 student ~ maximum 4 students" because in my opinion, it’s the most effective style to learn English.
For example, students have enough talking time with his/her teacher or classmates.
A teacher can check each student and correct their mistakes.
It's because of a small number of maximum 4 students a class lesson, a teacher can control a class easily and can make a lesson more flexible.
Right now, the average student in each lesson is about 1 (~2), so if you want to take advantage of smaller number students' lesson, now is good time to get started!!

本日は“英語学校の１クラスの人数について”です。

現在の日本の英語学校・英会話教室のレッスンスタイルを考えてみますと、“マンツーマンレッスン”“少人数制レッスン（２～５名）”“グループレッスン（６名～）”のように分けることができます。

英語講師としてキャリアをスタートした大手英会話教室では、“マンツーマンレッスン”“少人数制レッスン（最大５名）”“グループレッスン（最大８名）”のレッスンを経験しました。

また、トロント・カナダの語学学校でティーチングの仕事をしていた時は“最大１０名までのレッスン”を主に担当し、日本帰国後の語学専門学校時に担当していた翻訳・通訳・TOEICのコースでは“１クラス１０～２０名のレッスン”も経験しました。

これら・・・
“マンツーマンレッスン”
“少人数制レッスン”
“グループレッスン”

上記それぞれに、良い点・悪い点がありますが、自分の英語学校では“少人数制（１名～最大４名）のレッスン”を採用しています。

理由としましては、“英語力・英語コミュニケーション力を伸ばすのに一番効果的”と、自分の英語講師経験を通しておすすめできるからです。

具体的には・・・

・生徒は講師とだけでなく、生徒同士でコミュニケーションを図ることができる

・４名という少人数制なので、講師は生徒の文法や語彙のミスを比較的容易に発見することができる

・レッスンをコントロールしやすいので、フレキシブルなレッスン展開が可能

・・・などの理由が挙げられます。

現在、English Plusの１クラスのレッスン平均は１名（～２名）ですので、少人数制のメリットを存分に活かしたいのであれば今がチャンスです！！

Today, I’m going to write about why learning English in the morning is good for busy people.
Last summer upon a student request, I had a chance to give an English lesson in the early morning.

Actually, the lesson started at 7:20 every day in the entire summer.
What I realized was that learning English in the morning is a good idea for especially busy business people since they can control time in the morning more easily than night time.
When I was working for a big English conversation school, there was a very convenient system of changing class and a lot of students, who are buisness people, used the system since they had to work overtime or some other reasons.
Therefore, I can recommend learning English in the morning especially great for busy people.
Another positive aspect of learning English in the morning is that learning English can be one’s routine easily!(As you probably know that it takes some time to master English so making English learning a routine is important.)
If you are thinking about learning English (but you are very busy), why don’t you consider learning English in the morning?
You can start with Ondoku (reading out loud)!

本日は“忙しい方に特におすすめの朝の時間を有効に使う英語学習のすすめ”です。

昨年の夏は生徒の方のリクエストにより、東京都内のカフェで早朝英語レッスンをしていました。

実際、レッスンは７：２０分から毎日１時間ありました。

レッスンをしていて気付いたことは、早朝の英語レッスンは（自分が早朝レッスンを始める前に思っていたよりも）効果的で、特に忙しい社会人の方には特に良いと思ったことです。

大手の英会話学校で教えていた時、朝のレッスンはなく、夜の多くのレッスンでは“残業などの理由のため”多くの社会人の生徒の方々は振り替えのシステムを利用し、振り替えをしていました。

この点を考えても、忙しい社会人には“時間をコントロールしやすい”朝の英語学習は夜に比べ効率的です。

また、朝に英語学習をすることの一番のポイントは“英語学習が習慣化しやすい”という点です。
（ご存知だとは思いますが、英語をマスターするには時間がかかるため、毎日規則正しく学習する習慣化は必須です！）

英語を学びたい・・・けれど忙しい方、朝に英語の学習をしてはいかがでしょうか？
音読など簡単にできるものから始めるのがおすすめです！
