Today, I’m going to introduce some trivia related to TV.
To begin with today’s blog, I should say that I’m not much of a TV viewer.
The TV programs I mainly watch are news and sports programs.
However, in my English lessons, I sometimes hear my students talk aboutsome TV programs, some of which are Japanese-English.
So, today, let’s learn some trivia related to TV!
There are a variety of TV programs, such as…
・soap opera (In Japanese, it’s called Melo-dra）
・drama series (In Japanese, it’s called drama)
・cartoon (In Japanese, it’s called anime)
・variety show (In Japanese, it’s called variety)
・reality TV
・staged TV show
・prime-time show (In Japanese, it’s called golden time)
・gossip show (In Japanese, it’s called wide show)
・cultural program
・live coverage
Sometimes, this kind of knowledge is helpful to enjoy conversation more!

本日は“テレビに関する英語のトリビア”です。

今日はテレビのことをトピックとして取り上げたいと思います。

自分は基本的に、あまりテレビを見ることはありませんが、見ることが多いのはニュースとスポーツ番組が中心です。

しかしながら、生徒の方にレッスンをしていますと、時として自然に日常会話の話題がバラエティなどのテレビ番組になることもあります。

そこで気付いたのはテレビ番組を話す時、多くの日本語英語が使われているという事実です。

例えば・・・

・variety show（バラエティー番組）

・reality TV（リアリティー番組）
