It was in Germany that a man of this caliber was a former prime minister.
What kind of brains did the Asahi Shimbun and other so-called cultural figures have who said, "Learn from the Germans"?

On November 11 (local time), Schröder Kim (Korean name: Kim So-young), the wife of former German Chancellor Schröder, published on Facebook a letter she sent to Stefan von Dassel, the mayor of Berlin's Mitte district.

In the letter, Mr. and Mrs. Schröder wrote, "The decision of the ward mayor is absolutely incomprehensible. It is an anti-historical decision to abandon the pain of the former comfort women who suffered as victims of violence," they criticized.

She also stressed that "the Japanese government's pressure to silence, rather than to liquidate, the history of such brutal war violence is a treatment that forgets history," and "we hope that the Berlin-Mitte district mayor will not succumb to Japanese pressure, which is believed to be directed by the German Foreign Ministry.

He added, "Germany has cleared its Nazi history and is respected throughout the world," and "German authorities must not be complicit in covering up Japan's war crimes. Independent civil society organizations are openly informing and pointing out Japan's war crimes.

Prior to this, the Berlin Mitte district office had installed a statue of a Korean Verband, a Korean civic group, along with a statue of a young girl, stating the fact of "forced mobilization of comfort women" by Japan in the past.
However, on July 7, the Berlin Mitte District Office revoked the installation permit on the grounds that the group had failed to notify the authorities in advance, and ordered that the statue be removed by the 14th.

Meanwhile, former German Chancellor Schröder has shown interest in Korean history issues, including a visit to "Nanum's House," a residential facility for former comfort women, in September 2017 when he was in office. 2018 marked his fifth marriage to Korean Kim So-young, who served as his interpreter and became his lover.
