"level" に「同じレベルのする/なる」の他にも何か動詞の意味がある事は以前調べた事があるのですが忘れました。 この引用文での　"level"　は、その忘れた意味だと思いますが思い出せないので辞書を引きます。

スペルが "leveled" となっていたので転記ミスかと思って確認したら "levelled" は英国綴りで、米国では "leveled" だそうです。
"level" に "aim at" の意味がある事を今度はこそ覚えなくちゃ。
