Death of a Salesman
HOWARD (getting up): You'll have to excuse me, Willy, I gotta see some people. Pull yourself together. (Going out)
I'll be back in a little while.
(On HOWARD's exit, the light on his chair grows very bright and strange.)
WILLY: Pull yourself together! What the hell did I say to him? My God, I was yelling at him! How could I!
Dictionary.com: to recover one's self-control; regain command of one's emotions: It was only a minor accident, but the driver couldn't seem to pull himself together.
・American Heritage Dictionary: Regain one's composure or self-control, as in After that frightening episode, it took her a while to pull herself together.
