Today, I'd like to announce English Plus' spring lessons starting on April 2nd 2024.
Now, it's almost in the middle of March and getting warmer day by day around English Plus these days.
It means spring is around the corner here in Tokyo this year.
At English Plus, our spring lessons start from Apr 2nd this year.
This spring, the following courses for adults and children are available at English Plus.

【 90-min Group Lesson for Adults (including High School Students and University Students) 】

・"Conversation" lesson
『Tuesday (10:30-12:00)』
『Wednesday (10:30-12:00)』
『Thursday (19:00-20:00)』
『Friday (10:30-12:00)』
『Saturday (10:45-12:15)』
This course focuses on learning and practicing basic English for communicative English.
Beginner students are welcome!

・"TOEIC test preparation" lesson
『Saturday (13:15-14:45)』
It focuses on acquiring not only TOEIC test score (L/R) but also practical English skills for business.

【 60-min Group Lesson for Kids (Elementary School & Junior High School Students) 】

・"Kids (Elementary School) English" lesson
『Tuesday (15:30-16:30)』
『Wednesday (17:30-18:30)』
This lesson is for elementary school students (Grade 1-6) and they learn phonics, reading, vocabulary, and grammar to improve their basic English skills.

・"STEP-UP (Junior High School)" lesson
『Wednesday (16:15-17:15)』
『Friday (17:15-18:15)』
It is for junior high school students who want to learn basic English skills for practice usage.

【 45-min Private Lesson for Adults & Kids 】

おはようございます。東京都港区田町の英語学校English Plus英語講師のarataです。

English Plusでは、小学生から大人まで『使える基礎英語力』をしっかり・楽しく・着実に身につける「実用的な英語レッスン」を提供しています。

しっかり・楽しく・着実に基礎英語力を身につけるためにEnglish Plusでは「４名までの完全少人数制」「９０分レッスン（キッズ６０分レッスン）」「レッスン内での英語の間違い・質問大歓迎！」「初心者でも安心して受講できる」環境を整えており、また「自己学習サポート」を提供しています。


本日のブログは“自分の英語に自信がない…自分の間違いに自分で気づける基礎英語力をつける第一歩！English Plusレッスン受講生用2022年6月第4週英語レッスンの復習（日本語編）”です。

English Plusではレッスン中は特に、受講生に間違いを恐れることなく英語を話してもらうようにサポートしています。

レッスン内では学んだ語彙・文法を使って、できる限り「自分の言葉で英文を作り、英語でコミュニケーションができる基礎英語力の習得」を目指しています。

９０分間のレッスン内では、基本的に“英語のみ”なので、時に会話のトピック（自分のことや、日常生活、社会一般の事など）が難しい話題になったりもしますが、レッスン受講生は自分の持っている英語力を駆使してがんばっています。

English Plusでは、どのような場面やトピックでも自分の英語力で乗り切れるえるように、基礎の部分となる基礎英語力（自分で英文が自由に作れる英語力）をつけるためにレッスンや自己学習をサポートしていますが、その基礎英語力の大事な中の１つに“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”があります。

今日はこの“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”の復習と題し、２０２２年６月第４週のレッスン受講生の英語の間違いから英語の復習・トレーニングをしていきたいと思います。

早速、下記の文の間違いに気づいてみましょう。（答えは下記にありますので、よろしければご確認ください）

1. There are a lot of Philippines in my university.
2. We went to camp last week.
3. I don’t drive a car 20 years.
4. Each people go there.

スムーズかつ自然に正しい英文が口からすぐに出てくる基礎英語力アップのために、学んだ後は音読トレーニング等の復習・トレーニングを重ねましょう。

なお、基礎英語力を鍛えていく「英会話レッスン」をEnglish Plusで好評開講中です。英語初級者の方の参加も大歓迎です。

Today, I'd like to report happy news about English Plus' students.
On Oct 1st, English Plus turned 10 years old thanks to especially you and all of our students.
To appreciate our 10th year anniversary, we held some events for our students in October.
One of the events was "checking current English skills through taking an exam" to see how much each student has improved since they started taking a lesson here at English Plus.
The theme of the test was "Me in the past vs. current Me."
All of our students usually need to take a placement test just before taking their first lessons at English Plus.
During the month of October, our students took the same placement test and we checked the score to see how much they have improved.
The scores were surprising because all of our students' scores were much better than before. Well done!
We know and feel every one of our students has been improving their English skills since they started taking lessons here; Plus, this time we could clearly see the improvement with the test score.
We are really happy and we'd like to continue seeing their improvement from now on too, so we'll continue supporting them by providing good, practical, fun English lessons and self-study support!
English Plus is an English school whose students are elementary school, junior high, high school students, university students, adults and those who are already retired.
A lot of varieties of students are enjoying learning English here.

Today, I'd like to report happy news from English Plus' junior high school students.
Recently, some of our current junior high school students told us the result of their recent Eiken exam.
All of them passed the exam, and we, our staff members, were really happy to hear the great news.
We know that every one of our students is making efforts to improve English ability in their free time, so we were really grateful to hear the result.
Plus, we also heard wonderful news from almost all of our junior high students that they have got excellent grades in their junior high schools.
We're really proud of them. Great job!
Because we'd like to hear more of happy news from now on too, we'll continue supporting all of English Plus' students improvements on their English skills.

Today, let's practice English from English Plus' lessons.
At English Plus, we encourage our students to try to speak English a lot especially during lessons.
Once in a while, they make some mistakes, but they really try hard and try to express what they want to say in their own words. (Great Job!)
Through the lessons at English Plus, I realized there are some mistakes our students often make, so today let's review not to make the same mistake again.
Now, let's find errors from our lessons during the second week of this November below.

Today, I'd like to let you know about happy news.
From last month to last week, some of our current students have been showing us their TOEIC results that they took recently.
One student, who is taking our private lesson once a week, got over 700 in the last TOEIC test.
He previously took the test 5 months ago and this time it was 80 points better than the last time.
Another, who is taking our Skill-Up Conversation lesson, got over 800 this Oct.
She took the TOEIC test this Jan, and her score was 40 points better than this Jan.
The other, who is taking our TOEIC test preparation lesson, got over 600 recently.
He took the test 5 months ago, and this time it was 70 points better that the last test.
Actually, there are some other students whose TOEIC score have gone up too this year.
We are really happy to hear their good news because we know every one of their efforts to study English here at English Plus.
Because of our students' happy news, we've decided to continue supporting all of English Plus' students improvements on their basic English skills from now on too.
Currently at English Plus, we're accepting new students.
Our students are elementary school students, junior high, high school students, university students, adults and those who retired.
We have a wide variety of students.

Today, I'd like to report happy news.
Last week, one of our current students, who is in junior high school, told us the result of his recent Eiken exam.
It was his first time to try the Eiken Pre-2 exam, and he said he passed the second interview.
When he was at English Plus, we prepared for the exam and we knew his efforts so all of us were happy to hear about the news.
Because of this happy news, once again, we've decided to continue supporting all of English Plus' students improvements on their basic English skills from now on too.
Currently at English Plus, we're accepting new students.
Our students are elementary school students, junior high, high school students, university students, adults and those who retired.
We have a wide variety of students.

Good morning and I truly appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!


Today, I'd like to write about the ELT expo in Tokyo.
Yesterday, English Plus' kids teacher Haruka and I went to the annual ELT expo in Tokyo for the second time in a row.
This ELT expo is an event for English teachers (especially ETJ members - English Teachers in Japan members) in Japan, which is composed of some seminars especially about how to teach English.
Also at the same time, English textbook publishers, such as Oxford University Press, gave a presentation of their textbooks to English teachers.
In the seminars, there are a lot of speakers, such as famous authors, famous English teachers, English school owners, and so on.
Every speaker's talk is very interesting and beneficial for me.
Though I've participated in this expo several times before, every time I can discover something new.
Since I've learned some lessons from this expo, I'm going to share some information with our kids teacher Haruka in order to improve our teaching skills at English Plus.
English Plus is a small school, but we really care about our students and we try to do our best to help them improve their English skills.

Today, I'd like to write about an event I joined last Sunday, October 21st.
Oxford Day is Oxford University Press' annual event for language educators, researchers, and academics in Japan.
The event was held in Keio Univ, which is located in Mita - 15 min walk from English Plus.
It was a really nice autumn day, and Keio University's Mita Campus looked beautiful with autumn leaves.
Our kids' English teacher, Haruka, joined the event together from 10 in the morning to around 19.
Though it was a long day, I was able to spend a very productive time.
Especially, Michael Swan, whose book "Practical English Usage" is very famous among English teachers, was the keynote speaker this time.
His speech reminded me of some important teaching tips that I almost forgot when I took the TESL course in Canada.
After the speech, in the networking reception, I was able to have a word with him.
Also, I was able to listen to other teachers' valuable opinions too.
Thanks to them, it became a really stimulating and great day.
I will use the idea that I discovered in this event for English Plus, and we'll provide greater lessons and service in the near future.
We will improve how to teach English from now on too.
