Today, I would like to answer the question of "What English vocabulary should elementary school students in Japan learn?"
At English Plus, we offer lessons for both kids and adults.
Currently, we offer weekly English lessons for "junior high school students" and phonics and basic English lessons for "1st-6th grade elementary school students".
At English Plus, lessons for elementary school students focus on "phonics" and "basic English (vocabulary and grammar)".
By learning English from as early a stage as possible, students build a solid foundation for their future English ability.
There is a clear trend in English vocabulary that elementary school students should learn while they are still in elementary school.
So, today I would like to answer the question "What English words should elementary school students learn?"

✅ Family words (father, mother, brother, sister, etc.)
✅ School and stationery (pencil, eraser, book, school, etc.)
✅ Colors and shapes (red, blue, circle, square, etc.)
✅ Numbers (one to one hundred)
✅ days of the week, months (Monday, January, etc.)
✅ simple verbs (run, eat, play, go, etc.)
✅ greetings (hello, thank you, goodbye, etc.)
✅ weather and seasons (sunny, rainy, summer, winter, etc.)
✅ animals and food (dog, cat animals, food (dog, cat, apple, rice, etc.)

本日のブログは“自分の英語に自信がない…自分の間違いに自分で気づける基礎英語力をつける第一歩！English Plusレッスン受講生用2025年2月第4週英語レッスンの復習”です。

English Plusではレッスン中は特に、受講生に間違いを恐れることなく英語を話してもらうようにサポートしています。

レッスン内では学んだ語彙・文法を使って、できる限り「自分の言葉で英文を作り、英語でコミュニケーションができる基礎英語力の習得」を目指しています。

９０分間のレッスン内では、基本的に“英語のみ”なので、時に会話のトピック（自分のことや、日常生活、社会一般の事など）が難しい話題になったりもしますが、レッスン受講生は自分の持っている英語力を駆使してがんばっています。

English Plusでは、どのような場面やトピックでも自分の英語力で乗り切れるえるように、基礎の部分となる基礎英語力（自分で英文が自由に作れる英語力）をつけるためにレッスンや自己学習をサポートしていますが、その基礎英語力の大事な中の１つに“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”があります。

今日はこの“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”の復習と題し、２０２５年２月第４週のレッスン受講生の英語の間違いから英語の復習・トレーニングをしていきたいと思います。

早速、下記の文の間違いに気づいてみましょう。（答えは下記にありますので、よろしければご確認ください）

1. She use she iPhone every day.
2. I’m pretty good at make clothes.
3. She teach calligraphy when I was a child.
4. I bought another one for me.
5. Who are playing with their classmates?

本日のブログは“小学生が英検のために知っておくべき【学校にある物】の英単語１０選（日本語編）”です。

今日のブログでは当校イングリッシュプラスの小学生向けレッスンでも学習する「小学生が英検のために知っておくべき【学校にある物】の英単語」を昨日に引き続き、紹介します。

小学生が英検（特に5級〜3級）を受ける際に「学校でよく見る物」として知っておくとよい英単語を５個（一昨日のブログとあわせて１０個）および、英検5級〜4級レベルに合った例文を紹介します。

小学生が英検のために知っておくべき【学校にある物】の英単語１０選

1. notebook（ノート）
→ I don't have a notebook today. （今日はノートを持ってきていません）

2. bag / school bag（かばん / ランドセル）
→ Put the book in your school bag. （本をランドセルに入れてください）

3. ruler（定規）
→ He has a long ruler. 　（彼は長い定規を持っています）

4. teacher's desk（教卓）
→ The teacher is at her desk. （先生は教卓にいます）

5. clock（時計）
→ Look at the clock! （時計を見て！）

ワンポイント学習アドバイスとしましては、英検5級〜4級では「これは何ですか？」「それはノートです」などの基本的なやり取りが出題されるため、これらの単語は「What's this? – It’s a notebook.」のように使いながら覚えるのがおすすめです。

単語だけでなく短い文で言えるようになると英検の会話パートでも有利なので、少しずつ文章にも慣れていきましょう。

なおEnglish Plusの小学生向けレッスンでは、こうした語彙を「聞く・話す・読む・書く」の４技能（フォニックス）を通じてしっかりと定着させていきます。

Today, let's learn some English vocabulary for Eiken exam.
At English Plus, we offer lessons for both kids and adults.
Currently, we offer weekly English lessons for "junior high school students" and phonics and basic English lessons for "1st-6th grade elementary school students".
Our lesson for elementary school students are not only focusing on Eiken exam but also acquiring basic English skills.
In today's blog, I would like to introduce some of the English words that appear in Eiken, which are also studied in our English Plus lessons for elementary school students.
This blog introduces 5 (10 with tomorrow's blog) English words that elementary school students should know for Eiken (especially Level 5 to Level 3), as well as example sentences appropriate for Level 5 to Level 4 of the Eiken exam.

English words at school elementary school students should know for Eiken exam

1. desk（机）
→ This is my desk. 　（これは私の机です）

2. chair（いす）
→ There is a chair in the room.（部屋にいすがあります）

3. blackboard / whiteboard（黒板 / ホワイトボード）
→ The teacher writes on the blackboard.（先生は黒板に書きます）

4. pencil（鉛筆）
→ I have a pencil.（私は鉛筆を持っています）

5. eraser（消しゴム）
→ Can I use your eraser? （あなたの消しゴムを使ってもいいですか？）

Please refer to tomorrow's blog for the other five too.
One point of study advice is that in Eiken Levels 5 to 4, you should use basic phrases such as "What's this? - It's a notebook."
It is also advantageous in the conversation part of the Eiken to be able to say not only words but also short sentences, so I recommend that you get used to using sentences little by little.
In our English Plus lessons for elementary school students, we will help them to build up their vocabulary through the four skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing (phonics).

Today, I would like to write about "How to learn English for Beginners."
For beginner English learners, learning methods can have a significant impact on their motivation and results.
Today, as an English teacher, I would like to introduce some “effective and positive learning methods for beginners” based on evidence and my experience in the field of education.
I personally recommend these 5 learning steps for English beginners.

1) 【Start by listening】
Listening is a good foundation for listening and pronunciation.
When learning a language, human beings acquire it in the order of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, so let's start with listening.
Recommended learning methods are...
・Listen to simple English audio (e.g. NHK Radio English, YouTube's English for Children, etc.) for 5-10 minutes every day
・Pronunciation practice is recommended by “shadowing” (listening to English sentences and practicing imitation with a slight delay)

2) 【Learning Basic Words & Phrases】
To enjoy conversation, you must know basic words and phrases.
First, let's learn words and phrases that can be used in daily conversation.
In addition, it is more important to learn “usable words” (with priority given to vocabulary that is used frequently) than “words you know”.
As for actual learning methods...
・Use materials such as "word books" and "English conversation phrase books" that you think you can study by yourself
・Checking words (10 words at a time) every day with word cards or apps is also effective
・Memorize in patterns such as “I want to 〜” and “Can I 〜?”.

3) 【Grammar Study】
After learning basic words and phrases, it is also important to understand the sequence of sentences (grammar).
Start by reviewing basic junior high school English.
If you understand English grammar, you will be able to understand “why we say that” and be able to apply it, so let's study from simple English grammar.
The way to learn...
・Use the English materials you will study in junior high school and study regularly
・Do not try to memorize grammar perfectly, but understand it as you use it

4) 【Get used to speaking aloud】
It is important in English conversation to get used to actually speaking English, not just learning it in your head (brain).
By actually speaking, your memory retention rate will increase significantly.
In fact...
・Speak out even one phrase every day
・Talk to yourself in English (write a diary and say it in English, or try expressing something in front of you in English)
・Have regular opportunities to speak at English conversation classes, etc.

5) 【Devise ways to continue learning English】
Since learning a language takes time, maintaining motivation is essential.
"Continuation" is the biggest key to English language acquisition.
To do so, for example...
・Keep a study record (try writing down your daily progress in an app or notebook)
・Set small goals (e.g., learn 10 phrases in a week)
・Use your favorite English phrasebooks and movies for fun

【Summary of Today's Points】
1. Be aware of the cycle of “learning vocabulary, phrases, and grammar → listening → imitating → using” (memorization alone is not fun, so it is also important to devise ways to make learning fun)
2. Don't seek perfection, even little by little, and continue every day (continuity is key)
3. Find a style that is fun and suits you (the key is to find a learning method that suits you and is not overwhelming)

本日のブログは“2025 LTP English Language Teaching Conventionに参加してきました （日本語編）”です。

LTPは"Language Teaching Professionals"の略で、語学教師をサポートする団体です。

LTPはいくつかの団体で構成されていますが、その１つにETJという団体があります。

ETJはEnglish Teachers in Japanの略で英語ティーチング向上を目指す日本人・外国人問わない英語講師から成る非営利の団体で、情報交換や指導のアイディアを奨励しています。

ETJのメンバーとして年に一度のイベント(LTP English Language Teaching Convention)に参加してきました。

今年の東京会場は２月９日（日）に大妻女子大学で開催されました。

毎年開催される当イベントですが、パンデミック以来６～７年ぶりの参加でした。

テキストの著者や英語講師、英会話教室の経営者などの講演者が、指導法や生徒に効果的に接するポイントをレクチャーしてくれました。

各講演者の話はとても興味深く、新しい発見もありとても有益なものでした。

また、英語テキストの出版社の展示もあり、最新の教材を見ることができました。

このコンベンションで様々な気づきや良いヒントを得たので、状況に応じてイングリッシュプラスレッスン受講生たちに使ってみようと思っています。

Today, I'd like to write about the LTP English Language Teaching Convention in Tokyo.
LTP stands for Language Teaching Professionals and it is an organization to support language teachers.
I am a member of ETJ, which is a free association for English teachers in Japan that encourages the exchange of information and teaching ideas.
LTP holds a convention once a year and ETJ members can join the convention.
On February 9th (Sun), it was held at Otsuma Women's University in Tokyo.
It was my first time in about 6 or 7 years since pandemic to join the convention.
A lot of English lecturers, such as authors, teachers, and English school owners, shared some good teaching technique, and tips to treat students more effectively.
Every speaker's talk is very interesting and beneficial for me.
Also, English textbook publishers displayed their textbooks I was able to see latest materials.
Since I've learned some good tips from this convention, I'm going to use some to our students.
English Plus is a small school, but we really care about our students and we try to do our best to help them improve their English skills.

本日のブログは“English Plusのレッスンから学ぶ英語 - ステーキの焼き方（ミディアム～ウェルダン）に関する英単語（日本語編）”です。

イングリッシュプラスでは現在、大人向けレッスンでは毎週主に【英会話】および【TOEICテスト対策】を開講しています。

特に英会話のレッスンではレッスン受講生同士の会話の中で毎回違う「様々な話題」が出てきます。

会話の話題は本当に様々で、週末の話題、最近のニュース、流行っていること、趣味、旅行等、様々です。

そんな中でも頻繁に出てくる話題の１つに「食事・食べ物」があります。

食べ物の話題と言っても多々ありますが、今日は最近の英会話レッスンの中で出てきた「ステーキ」に関する「焼き方」の英単語を昨日に引き続き学んでいきたいと思います。

早速、下記の英単語をチェックしてみましょう。

英単語を確認した後は実際に使えるように、下記のような文章で音読してみましょう。

Today, let's learn some English vocabulary from English Plus lessons.
At English Plus, we are currently offering weekly English conversation and TOEIC test preparation lessons for adults.
In the English conversation lessons in particular, different topics come up each time in the conversation among the students.
The topics of conversation are very varied, such as weekend topics, recent news, current trends, hobbies, travel, and so on.
One such topic that comes up frequently is “meals and food."

Happy New Year!
I appreciate your visit to English Plus blog at the very beginning of this year!
English Plus is a small language school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


As the first day of 2025, let's try to make a new year's resolution (Shinen-no-Hohu) this year too.
During our first lesson at English Plus, we usually ask our students what their new year's resolutions are this year.
Usually, they say they'll try to "lose weight", "stop eating sweet food at night", "get a higher score in the TOEIC test", "study English every day", "be a better English speaker", and so on.
Like our students, some of you might make a new year's resolution every year.
I think making a new year's resolution is a great idea, and a person who actually tries to accomplish it is wonderful.
Continuing something is hard, but it's worth trying, so let's decide one for this year and challenge it.
As an English teacher at English Plus, my new year's resolution this year is to "Keep making and offering good lessons and curriculum for our students", "Keep supporting our students to improve their English skills", and "Organize some fun activities."
In order to accomplish them, our staff and I are going to make efforts this year too.
If you haven't made this year's new year's resolution yet, why don't you make one by yourself? (How about learning English?)
When you decide one, please try and stick to it.
