Since March 2020, we have heard or seen a lot of news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites.
They say more and more people are still infected with the Coronavirus in some places.
On the other hand, in Japan, the recent situation of COVID-19 is getting better according to some news reports.
This is surely good news for Japan, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections in the world will settle down soon and things will get back to normal.
Under this circumstance, some of us might need to send or might have a chance to send messages to someone in English.
Today, let's learn some expressions to report about the current situation in Japan, for instance:

・The Coronavirus pandemic is settling down in Japan.
・It seems that the COVID-19 has subsided in Japan.
・The Coronavirus situation has calmed down in Japan.

Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' new contents of our official Instagram Reels.
English Plus has some SNS sites including this blog and our official website.
In addition to these, we have YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and so on.
We frequently update these, and plus, we recently started our new "Learning English tool" with our Instagram.
With this learning English tool, you can enjoy learning English more.
We use "Instagram Reels" for learning English, and we sometimes hear from our students that they don't know how to use Reels.

If you want to know how to use, please check out this movie.
You can try this learning English tool from your smart phone, tablet computer, PC.
Just click English Plus' Instagram, and click「英語学習ツール」tab.
We have recently updated the latest Reels "How do you say this comic in English?"
If you try it, you might find your favorite comics there and learn English through their titles, such as "Shingeki-no-kyojin".
Anyone can use it and if you answer the question and write down your answer on the comment place, our mascot character "EPman" may reply to you sometime.

The Olympic Games in Tokyo has just begun, and some of you might be into this sport event.
There are a lot of sports we can watch during this period.
One good thing about the Olympics is to get to know some Olympic sports.
Today let's learn the names of some sports of Tokyo games in Japanese and English.

Even though now the vaccine is available, there are some new types of variants and quite a few new cases are still reported every day around the world.
This is really bad news for people all over the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down very soon and things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
Under this circumstance in Japan, we are going to host summer Olympic games in Tokyo soon.
So, today let's learn some expressions to tell your foreign friends about the current situation in Japan, especially the rumor of the fifth wave of COVID-19 in English.

English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about one of our lesson programs for "Junior high school students" at English Plus.
Since English Plus started in 2011, we have prepared and offered a lot of lessons for both adults and kids.
Most of the lessons are "Group lessons", which consist of max 4 students in a class.
Some of our group lessons for "Adults" are as follows:
・Conversation lesson: This is good for those who would like to talk about what they want more freely (90min)
・TOEIC exam preparation lesson: This is a lesson for those who want to improve not only TOEIC score but also basic English ability (90min)
・1st Step English lesson: This is for beginners and you can talk about your daily lives one by one through the lessons (60min)
In addition to these lessons, we also have "Travel conversation lesson", "Basic listening lesson", "Business English lesson", and "TESOL course."
Some group lessons for "Kids" are such as:
・Phonics and Basic English lesson: This is for elementary school students and they can learn some basic phonics and acquire well-balanced English skills (60min)
・Junior High School English lesson: This is for junior high school students and good for those who are thinking about trying Eiken exam too (60min)
In addition to our group lessons, we have another one "Private lesson." (45min)
One advantage of "Private lesson" is they can learn English at their own pace.
Plus, they can ask questions more easily and they can clarify some points that they don't understand.
As COVID-19 pandemic started, we are often asked about "Private lessons" from the parents who have junior high school kids.
Our Private lessons can be customized, so even if a student is using an original textbook at his/her junior high school, no problem because we can arrange the lessons according to each student's purpose or goal.
Currently, there are a few time slots for private lessons available.
The private lesson is 45-min, and they can choose either once a week or twice a week.

Today, let's learn some English expressions from our recent lessons at English Plus.
Now, it's spring and we are able to see cherry blossoms blooming around English Plus, Tamachi, Tokyo.
Since cherry blossoms are blooming, our students are frequently talking about cherry blossoms in the class.
When we talk about cherry blossoms, we should know some English expressions about how much cherry blossoms are blooming.
Then, we can enjoy conversation more, so today let's learn some English about cherry blossoms.
For instance...
1. 桜の咲き始め ＝ The cherry blossoms began to bloom.
2. 三分咲きです ＝ The cherry blossoms are at one-third in bloom.
3. 五分咲きです ＝ The cherry blossoms are at half in bloom.
You might talk about cherry blossoms in English not only this year but also in the future, so let's practice English every day to get prepared for it!
