Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' school activity in 2023.
Last Saturday, we held English Plus' Christmas party, which was our annual event until COVID pandemic happened in 2020.
This year's party was the first time in 4 years, and we were very happy to hold the event again.
Since we have both adults and kids students at English Plus, we enjoyed the party together this time.
During the party, we enjoyed a lot of food, drink, and some games.
Through the games, everyone seemed to enjoy playing the game, and almost all of the participants seemed to well communicate with one another.
In the middle of the party, a special guest "Santa Claus" came to English Plus, which made the party more fun.
This time, we tried some new games including taste test.
It was fun and we were able to finish it without any problems.
We really appreciate every one of the participants who joined the party, especially who helped us a lot. (Thanks a lot!)
We're thinking about holding some other activities next year too, so if you are English Plus' students, please join us.
Let's learn and use English a lot, and have fun next year too.

おはようございます。東京都港区田町の英語学校English Plus英語講師のarataです。

しっかり・楽しく・着実に基礎英語力を身につけるためにEnglish Plusでは「４名までの完全少人数制」「９０分レッスン（キッズ６０分レッスン）」「レッスン内での英語の間違い・質問大歓迎！」「初心者でも安心して受講できる」環境を整えており、また「自己学習サポート」を提供しています。


本日のブログは“English Plusレッスン受講生のレッスンでこれが言いたかった「５キロ太った」の英語表現 ２０２３年１０月１週のレッスンから”です。

東京・田町の英語学校English Plusではレッスン受講生の「しっかりとした基礎的な英語力を身につける」ことに注力しています。

そのため「ある程度の英語学習時間および努力」が必要になることをレッスン受講生にはお伝えしていますが、また同時に「英語学習を無理なく習慣化」する方法もお伝えし、お一人お一人無理のない範囲で取り組んでもらっています。

English Plusではレッスン受講生に「定期的なレッスン受講」と共に「毎日の自己学習」を提案していますが、レッスンの最中や自己学習に取り組む中で「疑問点」や「こんなことが言いたかった」ということをレッスン受講生からお聞きします。

今日は実際のレッスンの中から、レッスン受講生が言いたかった一言を学習していきたいと思います。

今日の英語でこれが言いたかったは「５キロ太った」です。

この週のレッスンでは様々なトピックについて会話が繰り広げられましたが、その中の１つに健康の話題がありました。

今日はその会話の中ででてきた「５キロ太った」の英語表現および「コロナ禍以降、５キロ太りました」という英文を考えてみましょう。

少し考えた上で、口から英語が出てくるように、毎日少しずつ基礎英語力を上げていきましょう。（答えの一例は当ブログの下記にありますのでよろしければご確認ください。また確認後は口から出す音読トレーニングをしましょう。）

Today, I'd like to announce "English Plus' twelfth year anniversary".
English Plus opened its door in Shibaura, Tamachi, Tokyo 12 years ago, October 1st, 2011.
Thanks to a lot of people's support, English Plus will be able to turn twelve years old tomorrow.
We really appreciate every one of you, who supports us from the bottom of our heart.
Our special thanks are especially for our students, friends, family, staff members, and some of you who support us.
Thanks to each and every one one of you.
Looking back about these twelve years, a lot of words have come to my mind.
One word can't describe these twelve years: however, the first word which came to mind this year was "gratitude."
A lot of things have happened these 12 years, and especially these recent years because of COVID-19 pandemic; however, we've been able to continue our business especially thanks to every one of our students.
Thank you very much.
Words are not enough to express how we appreciate each of you, so instead of words of appreciation, we'll continue offering better and more practical English lessons and helpful support as well as more fun activities, and friendly environment to study English here at English Plus.
We really thank every one of you, especially our students & customers, and we'll make efforts from now on too.

Today, let's practice English from English Plus' lessons.
At English Plus, we encourage our students to try to speak English a lot especially during lessons.
Once in a while, they make some mistakes, but they really try hard and try to express what they want to say in their own words. (Great Job!)
Through the lessons at English Plus, I realized there are some mistakes our students often make, so today let's review not to make the same mistake again.
Now, let's find errors from our lessons during the second week of September in 2022 below.

1. I painted pictures good in my youth.
2. Before COVID happened, how often do you go to travel?
3. I’m going to hiking tomorrow.
4. The news were very shock.

Let's improve English skills little by little!

Good morning, and thank you so much for stopping by English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Tomorrow is the New Year's eve, and I'd like to look back on this year as an English instructor at English Plus.
A lot of things have happened here at English Plus in 2022.
The impact of COVID-19 pandemic was still remaining this year so we couldn't hold many activities and events, such as annual Christmas party.
However, we were able to finish our business safely this year thanks to a lot of people's support, and I'd like to write about what we've done at English Plus.
For instance:
・We were able to celebrate 11th year anniversary on Oct 1st
・We started a new service for Day care (Nursery School) and Kindergarten
・We will be on TV tomorrow, Dec 31 2022
・Some English Plus original items have been added, such as original bag and stationery goods
・Instead of Christmas Party, we held a month long "Christmas Month" event
・Zoom online lesson for our current students is available
・Zoon school information session is also available
・Some junior high school students passed Eiken Grade Pre2 & Grade3
From my point of view as an English instructor, most of our students' English skills have improved continuously this year too! (Great job!)
We really thank every one of English Plus' students, supporters, staff members, friends, and family.
We'll keep making efforts to provide better English lessons, support, and service at English Plus next year too.

Today, I'd like to report English Plus' last school activity in 2022.
From November 29th to December 24th, we have been holding our last school activity "Christmas Month" this year.
We usually hold Christmas Party for our students at English Plus at this time of year; however, unfortunately this year because of prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we had to change our plan and are holding Christmas Month instead.
This Christmas Month is an activity that almost all of our students are joining for about a month.
Each week, there are different kinds of games and classmates need to cooperate with each other in order to get higher scores.
It seems that everyone of the participants enjoys playing the games after the lessons.
Since we believe it has become a successful event, we will hold some of fun activities at English Plus next year too.
Thank you all of our students for joining the activity.
Let's learn and use English a lot, and improve a lot next year too!

Today, I'd like to announce "English Plus' eleventh year anniversary".
English Plus opened its door in Shibaura, Tamachi, Tokyo 11 years ago, October 1st, 2011.
Thanks to a lot of people's support, English Plus will be able to turn eleven years old tomorrow.
We really appreciate every one of you who supports us from the bottom of our heart.
Especially, our special thanks are for our students, friends, family, staff members, and some of you who support us.
Thanks to each and every one one of you.
Looking back about these eleven years, a lot of words have come to my mind, such as lack of sleep, preparation, challenge, fun time, hard time, fulfillment, unpredictable event like COVID-19, many smiles, and so on.
One word can't describe these eleven years: however, the first word which came to mind was "gratitude."
A lot of things have happened these 11 years, especially these recent years because of COVID-19 pandemic; we've been able to manage somehow thanks to every one of our students.
Thank you very much.

Today, let's learn some kinds of business meetings in English.
In our daily business, some of you have several opportunities to participate in meetings at work.
Since COVID-19 began spreading in spring 2020, I imagine most of you have had a lot more opportunities to join online meetings.
Actually, some of our students at English Plus have had more chance to join online meetings since the pandemic happened.
It depends on your work and positions, and you may need to join several meetings.
In fact, there are some different types of meetings in our business, and today let's learn some business meetings in English; for instance...

・重役会議 = board meeting
・定例会議 = regular meeting
・緊急会議 = emergency meeting
・スタッフミーティング = staff meeting

If you have a chance, please use some when necessary.

本日のブログは“新型コロナウイルスに関しての英語表現「日本ではコロナの第７波がもうすぐ始まると言われています」と言いたい時に使える英語表現（日本語編）”です。

２０２０年の春頃から、日本のみならずアメリカやカナダ、ヨーロッパなど世界中のテレビやラジオ、インターネットのニュースでも取り上げられているように、最近でもニュースの話題はコロナウイルスですが、オミクロン変異株の影響等でさらに感染者数が増えている場所もあります。

日本においても同様の状況が見られており、現段階ではいつ収束するかわからない状況です。

このような状況でも、海外の方（ビジネス上でお付き合いのある方、お客様、同僚、友人等）と英語でのメールやメッセージをやり取りをされる方もいらっしゃるかと思います。

この状況下で日本の現状を英語で伝えたい方もいらっしゃるかと思いますので、今日は「日本ではコロナの第７波がもうすぐ始まると言われています」と言いたい時の英語表現を学習していきたいと思います。

例えば…

・There is a rumor that the seventh wave of the COVID-19 may happen in Japan in the near future.（日本では近々、コロナの第７波がもうすぐ始まるのではないかと言われています）

・It is likely that the seventh wave of COVID will come to Japan soon. （日本ではコロナの第７波がもうすぐ始まる可能性があると言われています）

Today, let's learn some English expressions from recent news topics of new Coronavirus.
Since the spring of 2020, we've heard and seen a lot of news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites.
Currently vaccine is available; however, there are some variants including Omicron variant and quite a few new cases are reported every day around the world.
This is really bad news for people all over the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down very soon and things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
Under this circumstance, some of us might need to send or might have a chance to send messages in English.
Today, let's learn some English expressions about the current COVID-19 situation in Japan, especially the rumor of the seventh wave of COVID-19 in English.

・Some experts say that the seventh wave of the COVID-19 may start in Japan in the near future.（専門家によると近々、日本ではコロナの第７波が始まると言われています）

・There is a possibility that the seventh wave of COVID will hit in Japan soon.（日本ではもうすぐコロナの第７波が来る可能性があると言われています）
