Good morning and I really appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' latest activity about infection prevention.
As of today, we can see and hear a lot of news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Actually, on March 11th 2020, The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic, and Japanese government declared the state of emergency about COVID-19 on April 8th 2020.
Though the state of emergency was lifted on May 25th, the number of infected patients has been increasing again since then.
In an effort to prevent and minimize the spread of any infectious disease including COVID-19, English Plus has made "infection prevention policy."
For instance,
1. The staff wash hands regularly
2. The staff try to stay healthy, but when their condition is not good, they stay at home
3. The staff wear face masks as a precautionary measure when necessary
4. The staff and students use hand sanitizer when necessary, especially before getting any beverages
5. Disinfectants are regularly used during cleaning, especially in locations frequented by large numbers of people, such as desks, chairs, and so on.
6. The staff ventilates the facility regularly
7. During the lessons, we try to keep distance
and so on.
In addition to prevent the spread of infectious disease, we have got "Tokyo's Kansen-Boshi Tettei Sengen Sticker" (A sticker by Tokyo Metropolitan Government to prove that the shop prevents the spread of infection.)
In order to prevent the spread any infectious disease to protect our students and staff, we'll do what we should do to make a safe environment to study English from now on too.

English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' study abroad support.
At English Plus, we have "English School" and "Study Abroad Support Service."
Currently, we recommend some ESL schools in Canadian cities, such as in Vancouver, Toronto, Whistler, Calgary, PEI, and so on.
We can recommend these schools because either we've visited and checked them directly or talked with their school owners, managers, or Japanese counselors.
When we personally visited the schools, we checked their neighborhoods, teachers, staff, environment, and so on.
The schools we can recommend are located in safe area, and the schools' atmosphere is very friendly.
Needless to say, each school is serious about helping students to improve their students' English skills.
Here are the schools we currently recommend at English Plus:
・VGC (in Vancouver)
・GC (in Vancouver)
・Tamwood (in Vancouver, Whistler, Toronto)
・SGIC (in Vancouver, Toronto)
・CES (in Toronto)
・Study Abroad Canada (in PEI)
・ECLC (in Halifax)
The length of studying depends on a school, so you can study for a short or long period of time. (Minimum 1 week)
Now, some of the schools are offering "Teen program in summer."
This program is for mostly teenagers who are interested in learning English during summer vacation.
Usually, the program starts in July and ends in August.
This program is very popular and some schools will finish accepting students very soon.
If you have time during summer or winter vacation, it's time to go and study English in Canada.
Studying English abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we're sure the participants can learn and experience a lot of things in Canada.

Now, it's in the middle of autumn, and we are advertising "let's enjoy studying in autumn & winter."
In some cities in Canada, you can enjoy delicious autumn food, and winter sports too.
Even though winter is cold, there are a lot of ways to enjoy cold winter in Canada!
Also, you can concentrate on learning English and in my opinion, winter is a good season to try studying abroad.
The length depends on a school, and you can study for a short or long period of time.
We really hope that the students, who use our service, will enjoy studying English and experience a lot of things.

Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' eighth year anniversary.
English Plus opened its doors in Shibaura, Tamachi, Tokyo eight years ago, October 1st, 2011.
Thanks to a lot of people's support, English Plus will turn eight years old tomorrow.
We truly appreciate every one of you who supports us from the bottom of our heart.
Especially, our special thanks are for our students, friends, family, staff members, and some of you who support us.
Thanks to each and every one one of you.
A lot of things have happened these 8 years, however, we've been able to manage somehow because of your support.
Thank you very much.
Words are not enough to express how I appreciate you, so instead, we'll continue offering better and more practical English lessons and helpful support as well as more fun activities, and friendly environment to study English.
We really thank every one of you, and we'll make efforts from now on too in order to celebrate next 9th year birthday too.

Today, I'd like to write about English Plus' seventh year anniversary.
English Plus opened its doors in Shibaura, Tamachi, Tokyo seven years ago, October 1st, 2011.
Since then, thanks to a lot of people's support, English Plus will turn seven years old tomorrow.
We truly appreciate every one of you who support us from the bottom of our heart.
Especially, our special thanks are for our students, friends, family, and some of you whom we can't see directly but support us indirectly.
Thanks to each and every one one of you.
A lot of things have happened these 7 years, especially this year has been very busy since we moved to our current place for the first time in our history.
It's been about a year since we moved to our current place, and we're getting used to our environment and situation.
At this place, we'll continue doing our best to support our students' English skills.
We'll offer better and more practical English lessons and helpful support as well as more fun activities, and friendly environment to study English.
We really thank every one of you, and we'll make efforts from now on too in order to celebrate next 8th year birthday too.

Good morning and thank you very much for checking out English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about one of some tips for those who would like to gain confidence in English conversation and their English ability.
Needless to say, when we start learning something new, all of us are beginners.
Though I studied English in junior high and high schools, I was a false-beginner when I first went to Canada to study English.
After finishing learning English, I became an English teacher in Japan, but I had a lot of hard time while learning English.
The first difficulty I faced was that I felt English was very difficult.
There were some reasons why English was difficult, and I clearly remember that the first three or four months were very tough for me.
From my personal learning experience, I'd like to share one of five tips about gaining confidence in English conversation and ability.
The first advice is "Don't be afraid of making mistakes and you should use English a lot whenever you can."
When I first went to Canada to study English, I was nervous when I spoke English because I was afraid of making grammatical errors.
So, I wasn't actively trying to communicate in English with my classmates.
Now, I can say that those who try to communicate in English actively with positive-thinking and positive-acting can improve English skills much faster than those who don't.
If you don't have confidence in English, don't be afraid of making mistakes, and just try to speak English.
I'm sure you can do it and improve a lot!
At English Plus, we have the environment that our students are trying to speak English a lot and not afraid of making mistakes.

Today, I'd like to recommend a good English book for English learners from English Plus Cafe.
There are several good English books, magazines, and newspapers I'd like to recommend at English Plus Cafe.
Reading a whole book might take some time; however, I'd like to recommend reading a book little by little when you have time, such as lunch time.
This month, I'd like to recommend is this...
"Go Green, Live Rich - 50 ways to save the earth" by David Bach.
This book "Go Green, Live Rich - 50 ways to save the earth" may give you some simple ideas about how to save the earth.
The book contains 50 tips and introduces some practical tips for individuals to try some of them.
The books is written in not so difficult English, so even beginners can try.
If you are interested in the global environment, please check it out!
At English Plus, you can read English books little by little when you have time.
Reading English books regularly means improving your English skills regularly!
