English Plus is a small language school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to introduce one of fun facts in this English Plus blog.
As an instructor at an English language school, I personally read several books, magazines, newspapers, and check websites in order to get some information.
When I read them, I sometimes find some interesting and surprising fun facts.
It's because our students talk about a wide variety of topics during lessons, so in order to catch up with them, I need to get some information.
Today, I would like to introduce one of fun facts that I got to know recently.
Today's one is...
"Canada has around 3 million lakes. That's more than the rest of the world's lakes combined."
After I found out this fact, I checked if this information is true by checking Google map.
Since I lived in Toronto, Canada before, I know that there is a big lake named "Lake Ontario."
However, I didn't know there are so many lakes in Canada.
If you are into this fact, please check Google map by yourself.
English Plus is a small English language school located in Shibaura, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
We have students from elementary school to adults who are already retired.

At English Plus, we have "English School" and "Study Abroad Support Service."
Currently, we recommend some ESL schools in Canadian cities, such as in Vancouver, Toronto, Whistler, Calgary, PEI, and so on.
We can recommend the schools below because either we've visited and checked them directly or talked with their school owners, managers, or Japanese counselors.
When we personally visited the schools, we checked their neighborhoods, teachers, staff, environment, and so on.
The schools we can recommend are located in safe area, and the schools' atmosphere is very friendly.
Needless to say, each school is serious about helping students to improve their students' English skills.
Here are the schools we currently recommend at English Plus:
・VGC (in Vancouver)
・GC (in Vancouver)
・Tamwood (in Vancouver, Whistler, Toronto)
・SGIC (in Vancouver, Toronto)
・CES (in Toronto)
・Study Abroad Canada (in PEI)
・ECLC (in Halifax)
The length of studying depends on a school, so you can study for a short or long period of time. (Minimum 1 week)
It depends on a season, but some of the schools offer "Teen summer programs."
This program is for mostly teenagers who are interested in learning English during vacation time.
Usually, the program starts in July and ends in August.
This program is very popular and some schools will finish accepting students very soon.
If you have time during summer or winter vacation, it's time to go and study English in Canada.

Now, it's in the middle of autumn, and we are advertising "let's enjoy studying in autumn & winter."

Also, you can concentrate on learning English and in my opinion, winter is a good season to try studying abroad.

Today, let's learn and practice some basic English.
There are a wide variety of lessons available at English Plus, and one of them is "Skill-Up Conversation".
This Skill-Up Conversation has 6 different levels, and students can learn and practice basic English vocabulary, grammar, expressions, and pronunciation for English communication.
The aim of Skill-Up Conv course is that students master some basic English skills, and gain confidence to communicate in English.
In order to do so, through the lessons, students learn fundamental vocabulary, grammar points, and so on, and after that they have enough time to practice using what they learn during lessons.
It might take some time to master basic English skills; however, we try to support our students by offering lessons and self-study support.
If they take lessons regularly and do self-study in their free time, they can improve English skills a lot faster than we expect.
Through this Skill-Up Conversation course, our students learn a lot of basic English, and one of the most important grammar points is "Questions."
There are a lot of kinds of questions in English, and today let's focus on "How Questions."
Please read the following sentence.
"I'm good."
When we make a question to answer the sentence above, we can make a question like "How are you?"
Now, let's read the sentences below and try to make "How questions" to match the questions and answers.
1. It's sunny in Tamachi.
2. This is $3.50.
3. It's about 13 hours to Toronto.
If you can make questions smoothly, wonderful!
