Good morning, and thank you so much for stopping by English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Tomorrow is the New Year's eve, and I'd like to look back on this year as an English instructor at English Plus.
A lot of things have happened here at English Plus in 2021 too.
Especially, the impact of COVID-19 pandemic was still big not only here at English Plus in Tokyo, Japan but also everywhere around the world.
Despite the impact of COVID-19, I'd like to write about some of the events we've had at English Plus this year. For instance:
・Since English Plus set some rules and measures against COVID-19 last year, our staff, students, and visitors have been following the rules (Well done!)
・We were able to celebrate 10th anniversary on Oct 1st
・10th anniversary special event including all students test for our students was held
・In addition to our original English Plus' YouTube movies, Shorts movies are now available
・Thanks to our students, we were able to upload students' voice movie on YouTube
・For beginner students - 1st Step English for adults started
・Some English Plus original items have been added and planning to add more soon
・Instead of Christmas Party, we held 2-week "Christmas Scrabble"
・Zoom online lesson for our current students is now available
・Some students passed Eiken exam and got their target score in the TOEIC exam
From my point of view as an English instructor, most of our students' English skills have improved continuously this year too! (Great!)
We really thank every one of English Plus' students, supporters, staff members, friends, and family.
We'll keep making efforts to provide better English lessons, support, and service at English Plus next year too.

At English Plus, we encourage our students to try to speak English a lot especially during lessons.
Once in a while, they make some mistakes, but they really try hard and try to express what they want to say in their own words. (Great Job!)
Through the lessons at English Plus, I realized there are some mistakes our students often make, so today let's review not to make the same mistake again.
Now, let's find errors from our lessons during the first week of this June below.

1. Many museum is currently closed.
2. At that time, the museum was strike.
3. I met my friends the middle of April.
4. He drank medicine.

Let's improve English skills little by little!

Rise and shine! I truly appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to announce "English Plus' tenth year anniversary".
English Plus opened its door in Shibaura, Tamachi, Tokyo 10 years ago, October 1st, 2011.
Thanks to a lot of people's support, English Plus will be able to turn ten years old tomorrow.
We really appreciate every one of you who supports us from the bottom of our heart.
Especially, our special thanks are for our students, friends, family, staff members, and some of you who support us.
Thanks to each and every one one of you.
Looking back about this decade, a lot of words have come to my mind, such as lack of sleep, preparation, challenge, fun time, hard time, fulfillment, unpredictable thing, and so on.
One word can't describe these ten years: however, the first word which came to mind was "gratitude."
A lot of things have happened these 10 years, especially these two years because of COVID-19; we've been able to manage somehow thanks to every one of our students.
Thank you very much.
Words are not enough to express how we appreciate you, so instead of words of appreciation, we'll continue offering better and more practical English lessons and helpful support as well as more fun activities, and friendly environment to study English here at English Plus.
We really thank every one of you, especially our students & customers, and we'll make efforts from now on too.

Today, let's learn some English expressions from recent news topics of COVID.
We've heard or seen a lot about the news reports regarding Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites since last spring.
Even though now the vaccine is available, there are some new types of variants and quite a few new cases are still reported every day around the world.
This is really bad news for people all over the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down very soon and things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
Under this circumstance in Japan, we are going to host summer Olympic games in Tokyo soon.
So, today let's learn some expressions to tell your foreign friends about the current situation in Japan, especially the rumor of the fifth wave of COVID-19 in English.

・Some say that the fifth wave of the COVID-19 may happen during the Tokyo Olympics.
・I heard a rumor that the fifth wave of the COVID might hit Japan during the summer Olympics games.

Tomorrow is the New Year's eve, and I'd like to look back on this year as an English instructor at English Plus.
A lot of things have happened here at English Plus in 2020.
Especially, the impact of COVID-19 pandemic was very big not only here at English Plus but also everywhere around the world.
Despite the impact of COVID-19, I'd like to write about some of the events we've had at English Plus this year. For instance:
・Since COVID-19 is a major problem, English Plus has set some rules and measures against the virus
・STEP-UP English lesson for Junior high school students began in March
・New staff members have joined English Plus
・We're now preparing for 1st Step English for adults with new staff members
・New Activity "Self-Study Club" started this year
・Instead of Christmas Party, we held 2-week "Christmas Week"
・Zoom online school information session is now available
・English Plus' SNS service, such as Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Blog, and YouTube, is now available almost every business day
・Business English course is now available
From my point of view as an English instructor, in spite of the state of emergency in April and May, most of our students' English skills have improved continuously this year too! (Great work!)
We really thank every one of English Plus' students, supporters, staff members, friends, and family.
Although the COVID-19 is still spreading around us, we were able to make this year too. (Again, I appreciate every one of you.)
We'll keep making efforts to provide better English lessons, support, and service at English Plus next year too.

Today, let's learn some English expressions which can be used in current business situations.
Since this past March, we have heard or seen a lot of news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites.
In every day's news, they say more and more people are still infected with the Coronavirus all around the world.
This is surely bad news for people all over the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down soon and things will get back to normal.
Under this circumstance, you might sometimes need to work and send a message to your foreign business clients, partners, colleagues, or friends overseas.
In this situation, in a message, you can tell them your city's current situation (e.g. Tokyo).
So, today, let's learn some useful expressions in English.
For instance:

・It seems that the situation with the Coronavirus in Tokyo is has settled down a little bit but I am still concerned about it..
・The number of patients with COVID-19 in Tokyo has been not so many recently but I am still worried about this situation.
