Good morning and I appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about what I've been doing recently.
Since this April, our lesson schedule has been changed.
With this new lesson schedule, when I have some time, such as between lessons, I make a new curriculum "Basic Listening."
In our Skill-Up Conversation course, students take a regular level check up exam and they just took it last month.
As an English instructor, I checked each student's result and realized that "if a few of them have a little better listening skills, they can have more confidence and enjoy English communication more."
So, I decided to make "Basic Listening" curriculum to help them build up their listening skills.
To make the curriculum and each lesson, what I need to do is a lot but I'm enjoying making a lesson one by one.
The main focus of "Basic Listening" course is, of course, listening though I'll include "speaking, writing and reading" in this curriculum in order to get well-balanced basic English skills.
One lesson is 90 minutes and I hope everyone, who will attend this class, will enjoy improving listening skills!

Today, I'd like to write about one of our characteristics at our English school.
At our English school, we give our students several after-lesson-supports.
Actually, in addition to providing some after-lesson-supports, during lesson we change some parts of our lessons flexibly in order to help our students improve their English skills.
Before every lesson, we prepare the lesson carefully; however, each time the number of students attending lessons is different, so we adjust the lesson each time to make the lesson more effectively.
The length of lessons at English Plus is basically 90 minutes, so it's possible to find out what we need to focus on during lesson.

Today, let's learn some English phrases!
At English Plus' school, all of our students take a test every time they attend a lesson.
The test is from a homework book we assign and what our students have to do is composing some English sentences.
It takes a few minutes to complete the test.
After the test the other day, I checked their answers and returned the test.
Then, I heard a student mumble "yapparine..."
This "yapparine" is often used in Japan and today let's learn this phrase in English.
"I thought so."
"That's what I thought."
"I knew it."
When you want to say "yapparine" in English, please try to use these phrases!
By the way, with our Skill-Up course, students can improve basic English skills to compose sentences freely.

Good morning and I appreciate your visit to English Plus blog!
Today, I'll tell you news about kids lesson.
Since we started a 30-minute English lesson for kids at Maruzen/Junkudo book store in Shibuya in October 2011, we've given lessons almost every month (mainly every third Sunday) and we have been able to meet a lot of wonderful kids!
I'm sorry to tell you this news but we are going to cancel the kids lesson in Shibuya for a while.
(We are not sure when to restart the kids lessons, but when it's decided, I will let you know in this blog, homepage or English Plus' facebook page.)
We really appreciate for those who have attended our Sunday kids lessons in Shibuya!

本日は“４月以降の日曜日のキッズ英語レッスンしばらくお休みのお知らせ”です。

２０１１年の１０月に、キッズ対象の３０分の英語レッスンを渋谷の丸善・ジュンク堂書店さんにおいて開始して以来、毎月（主に第３日曜日）、たくさんのキッズに英語を教える機会をいただきました。

いつも楽しみにしてくださっていた方々には大変申し訳ないのですが、今月からしばらくの間、日曜日の渋谷の丸善・ジュンク堂書店さんでのキッズレッスンをお休みすることになりました。

次回の丸善・ジュンク堂書店さんでのキッズレッスンの予定は未定ですが、再開が決まり次第、当ブログ・English Plusのホームページ・facebookページでお知らせしたいと思います。

今までキッズレッスンに参加いただいた皆様、関係者の皆様ありがとうございました。

English Plusは月曜日～土曜日オープンしておりますので、お近くにお越しの際はお気軽にお立ち寄りください。

Today, I'd like to tell you happy news from one of our ex-students!
The other day, one of our ex-students suddenly visited us.
We didn't expect her sudden visit, so we were very surprised!
The reason she visited us was to tell us great news!
She told us that her dream to work as a flight attendant finally came true!
We knew her dream when she was taking English lessons at English Plus, so we were very happy for her!
What I learned from her this time was "learning English with having a high motivation to achieve something is very important!"
To assist our students to achieve each of their goals and dreams, I will keep doing the best that I can!

本日は“英語学校の卒業生から届いた嬉しいニュースのご報告”です。

先日、英語学校を卒業された生徒の方が突然お見えになりました。

全く予期していなかった突然の訪問だったためとても驚きました！

訪問の理由を尋ねると“良い知らせがあってどうしてもお伝えしたかった”ということでしたので、よくよく聞いてみると“遂に客室乗務員になる夢が叶った！”ということでした。

English Plusに通ってくださっている時から、当人の夢を知っていた経緯もあり、自分たちにとってもとても嬉しいニュースとなりました。

この嬉しいニュースから“何かを達成したい！もしくは、何か叶えたい夢がある！というような何かモチベーションを持って楽しく英語を勉強することは、大事！”ということを改めて学びました。

通ってくださる一人一人のために、これからも引き続き更に良いレッスンと英語力アップのためのサポートをしていきたいと思います。

Good morning!
Thank you for checking out English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about an event I participated in yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon, there was an event "Sogyo forum in Kawasaki", which intended for those who want to start own business.
I participated in it as a panelist and did a presentation and talked about pros and cons of starting new business and so on.
The forum itself was great; however, I realized that my presentation was not so good and I need to improve my presentation skill!
Anyway, I was able to take part in the event and it was a wonderful opportunity to be there!
I really appreciate those who attended the event, staff members who set up this event, the other panelist - Mr. Maehata and the keynote speaker - Mr. Takeuchi!

本日は“英語講師の創業フォーラム in Kawasaki in 2012への参加”です。

昨日の午後は、川崎産業振興会館において“創業フォーラムin Kawasaki”という創業を考えている方向けのイベントがありました。

自分は今回、パネリストとして創業フォーラムに参加し、創業して良かったこと・悪かったことなどについてプレゼンをしてきました。

創業フォーラムはとても有意義でした！

自分のプレゼンに限って言えば、反省すべき点が多く、今後に向けて色々と課題が見つかった機会となりましたが、フォーラムに参加でき、とても良い経験となりました。

昨日参加いただいた皆様、イベントに関わっているスタッフの皆様、同じくパネリストとして参加された前畑様、メインの講演者である竹内先生、ありがとうございました！

Today, let's learn some polite English that can be used in business.
In most business situations, I think we should use polite English.
So, today let's learn and practice some polite ways to say in each situation below.
For example...
・When you want someone to pass you a pen, you can say "Pass me the pen."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "Could you please pass me the pen?"
・When you are busy and someone ask you something, you can say "Wait a minute."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "Could you give me a minute?"
・When someone asks you something, you can say "NO."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "I'm afraid I can't."
・When you are on the plane and a flight attendant asks you your preference of a meal, you can say "I want fish."
However, in a polite way, you can say... "I would like fish, please. "
・When you are on the phone, you can say... "Wait a minute."
However in a polite way, you can say... "Can you hold please?"
Let's try to use polite English!

本日は“ビジネスでも使える英語の敬語表現”です。

英語では敬語がないと思われがちですが、実は様々な敬語の表現があり、特に英語でのビジネスの状況では適切な敬語を使うほうが賢明です。

今日はいくつかのビジネスの状況での敬語の使い方を取り上げたいと思います。

例えば…

・近くの人にペンを取ってもらいたい場合、"Pass me the pen."と言えますが、敬語の表現であれば…"Could you please pass me the pen?"

・忙しい時に話しかけられた場合、"Wait a minute."でも大丈夫ですが、敬語の表現ですと…"Could you give me a minute?"

・何かを尋ねられ断りたい場合、"NO."でも良いのですが、敬語の表現ならば…"I'm afraid I can't."

・飛行機の中で食事の選択ができる場合、"I want fish."でも大丈夫ですが、敬語の表現ですと…"I would like fish, please. "

・電話応対のひとことで、相手にお待ちいただくことを伝える時、"Wait a minute."も使えますが、敬語の表現では"Could you hold please?"

ビジネスの状況であれば、できるだけ敬語を使っていきましょう！

Thank you for your time to visit English Plus blog.
Today, I'd like to introduce a new course.
From this Wednesday April 4th, a new course is starting at English Plus!
The new course is designed for 5th & 6th elementary school students.
The course is especially good for students who have never learned English before!
I'm pretty sure that the students, who are going to attend this course, can enjoy learning English in 60-min lessons!
They can enjoy learning English and at the same time they can acquire some English communication skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) to pass the Eiken test (test of English proficiency).
The lesson is once a week and it's on Wednesday starting at 4:45.
The maximum number of students in a class is 4.
So, once the seats are full, I'm afraid but I won't be able to accept new students.
The lesson starts from this Wednesday, but students can join us anytime!

本日は“楽しく英語を学べる小学校５・６年生英語レッスン開講のお知らせ”についてです。

今週水曜日（４月４日）よりEnglish Plusでは新しいコースが始まります。

新しく始まるコースは小学５・６年生を対象とした英語レッスンとなっています。

このコースは英語を初めて習うという子供や英語に少し興味があるという小学５・６年生の子供たちに最適のコースです！

レッスンは６０分ですが、楽しく英語を学べるようにレッスンを構成しています。

レッスン内では楽しく英語を学ぶと同時に、“聞く・話す・読む・書く”というコミュニケーションに欠かせないスキルを身に付け英検（４・５級相当）に合格する力をつけていきます。

レッスンは基本的に週１回、水曜日の４時４５分～５時４５分となります。

１クラスの最大人数は４名の少人数レッスンとなります。
（大変申し訳ございませんが、お申込み多数の場合はお断りさせていただくこともございます）

レッスンは今週の水曜日スタート予定ですが、いつレッスンをスタートしても大丈夫なようにカリキュラムを構成しております。

Today, I'd like to mention an event in Kawasaki I participated in yesterday.
Yesterday, an event "Sogyo forum in Kawasaki", which is for those who want to start own business, took place.
I participated in it as a paneslist and introduced the concept of my own English school, pros and cons of starting new business, and so on.
It became a precious experience to talk about my own business since I've never talked about it publicly.
I just appreciate those who attended the event, staff members, the other panelist, Ms. Kikuchi, and the main lecturer Mr. Takeuchi.
I'll take a step by step to start my own business!
