本日は“英語講師の今週の電車内での過ごし方”です。

今週は電車の中で"Rising Sun - Michael Crichton 著"を読んでいます。
この本（小説）は、実は大学時代の講義に取り上げられた本で、（講義自体が面白かったのを覚えていた影響もあり）いつか英語で読もう！と思って約１０年が経っていました・・・
内容は、ある殺人事件を基にした“日本とアメリカの経済関係（１９９２年の経済摩擦）についてアメリカ側からの視点”から描かれているものなのですが、面白い点はアメリカ人の思っている“日本人”がわかりやすく描写されている点です。（古い小説なので、いささか時代ずれしている点もありますが・・・）
本は少し厚めですが、本の書き方が上手く、すらすら読めるタイプの小説なので英語力中級の方におすすめの一冊です。
すきま時間を活用して是非、英語の本を読みましょう！！
リーディング力のみでなく、リスニング力アップの基になります。

Good morning.
This week, I've been reading a novel entitled "Rising Sun" by Michael Crichton.
Personally, I've known this book for almost over a decade because of an economics class I took in my university, and in the class, the professor sometimes used this book as a reference to tell us about the business conflict between Japan and the U.S. in 1992.
It's because the lecture was interesting, I've remembered this book for about a decade.
The contents of the book is mainly about a murder in Los Angeles, but the point of the book is the differece of business strategy and corporate culture between Japan and the U.S., and also this book shows us about American points of view about Japanese people and culture.
It's about a 400-page book, but it's well-written and easy to read, so I recommend someone whose English level is intermediate.
I hope you find some time and read an English book every day!
