なぜネパールに行ったか？ネパールについて思い出せる最も古い私の記憶は、２５年程前にニューヨークへ行った時までさかのぼる。
そこで一人のチベット人に出会った。友人のルームメイトだった。彼は私と友人のために「モモ」を作ってくれた。そして、「次はネパール人女性と結婚したい。」と言った。（彼はすでにアメリカ人女性と離婚していた。）
「なぜって、ネパール人女性はとても美しいから！」と。それは、私のネパールについての一番古い記憶だ。
１０年くらい前に初めて学校にネパール人が入学してきた。それからだんだん増え始め、今では学校の中で一番多い。そういうこともあって、ネパールにはずっと行ってみたいと思っていたが、なかなか機会がなかった。
生徒たちから、ネパールについてどんなところか話だけはたくさん聞いていた。
今回、仕事仲間が誘ってくれたことで、ネパールへ行くという夢が現実になった。最初少し迷ったのだが、というのも、すでにスリランカへ行く計画を立てていたので、スケジュールがタイトになるかと心配した。でも、行くことにした。
ツアーメンバーは私を入れて全部で５人だ。
このツアーのために骨を折ってくれた方々に感謝する。本当にありがとうございます。
この旅を終えて、自分が感じることのできる世界が広がった気がする。ネパールについて、いろいろ聞いていたけど、自分の目で見ることができた。百聞は一見にしかず。
ネパールは日本からすると、全くの異世界だ。建物、人々、服装、道、目に見える全ての世界が違う。
車に乗っている時、道を歩く時、最初とても怖かった。
道では、歩行者、車、バイク、リキシャ、牛、犬がそれぞれ行きたいように行こうとする。交通ルールがないようだ。
スリランカでも怖かったけれど、ここはそのずっと上をいっている。
About Nepal, I try to remember my oldest memory, when I went to New York about 25 years ago, I met a Tibetan.
He was a roommate of my friend. He cooked “Momo” for us, and he said that he wanted to marry with a Nepali woman next time.(He divorced to an American woman.)
Because Nepali women are so beautiful.
This is my oldest memory about Nepal.
About 10 years ago, I met some Nepalis at school. They were the first Nepali students for me.
After then, nepali students a little by little started to enter in evening class, now they make up a large amount of the students.
Students talked about Nepal a lot.
So I wanted to go to Nepal to know about their country, but I didn’t have an opportunity to visit there.
Because of one of my camaradries proposed to go to Nepal, my dream to visit Nepal came true.
At first I hesitated a little, because I already planed to go to Sri Lanka, my scadule will be a little bit tight.
But I dicided to go.
The tour member was 5 persons included me.
I appriciate very much persons who had efforts a lot to realise this travel. Thank you.
After this travel, I felt my recognising world was wider than before. I heard a lot about Nepal, I could see it my own eyes.
Seeing is believing.
Nepal is a totally another world from Japan. Buildings, people, their fashon, roads, all of the world that I see.
When I got in a car, I walked in the street, I was very scared at beginning.
On the street, there were walkers, cars, bikes, rikishas, caws, dogs, and then, each of them tried to go their own ways.
It seemed there were no rules.
At Sri Lanka, I was scared, but here was beyond it.
