The Sultanate of Mataram was the last major independent Javanese kingdom on Java before the island was colonized by the Dutch. It was the dominant political force radiating from the interior Central Java from the late 16th century until the beginning of the 18th century.

イスラーム教国のマタラム王国は，マジャパヒト王国の衰えたのち、1586年に成立し，中部ジャワを中心に栄えた。
建国者スナパティはパジャン王国を征服し，農業国家としての体制を整え、1755年まで栄えた。
