English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, let's practice some English phrases for English only week at English Plus.
At English Plus, we hold "English Only Week" every once a month.
During this week, all of our students must speak only English during lessons.
The next term is from next Tuesday to Saturday, January 30th - February 3rd.
This will be the first time this year.
If they speak Japanese, there is a small penalty waiting for them.
So, today I'd like to introduce some English phrases that might be useful during English Only Week.
For instance...

・質問してもいいですか？ ＝ Can I ask you a question?
・ちょっと待って ＝ Just a moment.

Let's try only English next week!

Happy New Year!
I really appreciate your visit to English Plus blog at the very beginning of this year!
English Plus is a small language school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


As the first day of 2024, let's try to make a new year's resolution (Shinen-no-Hohu) this year too.
During our first lesson at English Plus, we usually ask our students what their new year's resolutions are this year.
Usually, they say "losing weight", "stop eating sweet food at night", "getting a higher score in the TOEIC test", "being a better English speaker", and so on.
Like our students, some of you might make a new year's resolution every year.
Personally, I think making a new year's resolution is a great idea, and a person who actually tries to accomplish it is wonderful.
Continuing something is hard, but it's worth trying, so let's decide one for this year and challenge it.
As an English teacher at English Plus, my new year's resolution this year is to "Keep making good lessons and curriculum for our students", "Keep supporting our students to improve their English skills", and "Organize some fun activities."
In order to accomplish them, our staff and I are going to make efforts this year too.
If you haven't made this year's new year's resolution yet, why don't you make one by yourself? (How about learning English?)
When you decide one, please try and stick to it.

Merry Christmas eve and thank you for visiting English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, let's learn some English vocabulary about Christmas.
Tomorrow, December 25th, is Christmas.
Christmas is celebrated not only in western countries but in Japan too.
A lot of children and adults are looking forward to this day, and some of our kids students can't wait for this day to come.
During this Christmas season at English Plus, we decorated the inside of our facility with Christmas ornaments.
Since Christmas is tomorrow, let's learn some English vocabulary related to Christmas.
For example...

・クリスマスの装飾 = Christmas ornament
・クリスマスのリース = Christmas wreath
・クリスマスの木 = Christmas tree
・煙突 ＝ chimney
・暖炉 = fireplace
・教会 = church
・ろうそく = candle
・杖の形のキャンディ = candy cane

When you have a chance to see one of the objects above, try to say it in English in your mind.
Let's learn and improve English every day.

Today, I'd like to let you know about the decoration for the Halloween at English Plus in 2023.
Halloween, October 31st, is at the end of this month, and we've started decorating English Plus with Halloween items this year too.
The more we've decorated, the more English Plus' atmosphere has become more like Halloween.
When you have a chance to visit English Plus, please check some of our Halloween decoration.
If you are a student at English Plus, please enjoy learning English in this festive atmosphere.
