Today, I'd like to write about a tip about how to acquire English skills.
In my opinion as an English instructor, there are five important tips to acquire English skills.
I've already written about three important tips in this blog, such as "vocabulary and grammar", "listening", and "speaking and writing."
In addition to these three tips, I'd like to add one more important tip "reading."
Reading English sounds very simple, but reading gives good influence on the three tips I mentioned above.
For instance, by reading English, you don't translate English into Japanese when you read and get the meaning of the sentence naturally.
You can also learn the sentence structure (e.g. subject+verb) and some phrases and expressions.
However, if you don't have a habit of reading English, it may be tough to start reading...in this case, why don't you come to English Plus Cafe and read English books?
There are some easy-to-read books available!

Today, I'd like to recommend a good book this season for English learners from English Plus Cafe.
There are a lot of good English books, magazines, and newspapers at English Plus Cafe.
Actually, it might take some time to read a whole English book; however, I'd like to recommend reading a book little by little when you have time, such as lunch time!
One of the books I'd like to recommend today is "How to Talk to Girls" by Alec Greven since "White Day", which is March 14th and on White Day men who got presents from women on St. Valentine's Day give something in return to those women., is just around the corner.
This book is good for those who aren't used to reading English because this is a picture book and it is written in simple English.
The point of reading English books is just keep reading even if you come across some unknown vocabulary.
If you don't know the meaning of vocabulary, try to guess it from the context and don't stop reading!
At English Plus, you can read English books little by little!
Reading English regularly means improving your English skills regularly!
This habit is very important to improve English skills!
Let's try to read English books!

English Plusでは、基礎から英語を学べるSkill-Up（基礎英語）コースが開講中です。

Skill-Upのレッスンではコミュニケーションの基礎となる、基本的な英語の文法・語彙を学んでいきます。

Good morning and thank you all for visiting English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about decorations we're doing at English Plus.
I should say that English Plus' (both school and cafe) interior decorations are very simple.
"Simple" sounds good but the other day a staff member told me that she wants to decorate a little more.
So, we decided to make English Plus a little more attractive place.
One of the things we are doing now is putting our travel pictures on the school wall.
We wrote down some comments on each picture, so our students can read English and learn something new (hopefully)!
In the near future, we'd like to gather more travel pictures and comments from our students and put them up!
Hopefully, our students can talk about these photos with each other and enjoy sharing their experiences!

本日は“English Plusの英語学校の壁を楽しくする計画進行中”です。

English Plus（英語学校＆カフェ）の内装は、白を基調としたシンプルな感じになっています。

“シンプル”と言うと聞こえはいいのですが、先日この件をスタッフと話をする機会があり、もう少し装飾をしよう！ということになりました。

まずは英語学校の壁からと言う事で、現在、スタッフや英語講師が海外旅行に行った時の写真＆コメントを使って色々と作成しています。

１枚、１枚の写真についているコメントは英語で書いているので、写真を見ると同時に英語を読むことも可能で、様々な世界の都市やワクワクする場所などを知ることもできると思います。

後々には、生徒の方々からの海外旅行の写真＋コメントも少しずつ掲載していきたいと思っています。

写真にまつわる思い出話や経験などを英語で楽しくシェアしてもらえると、英語講師としてとても嬉しく思います！

Today, I'd like to give you a piece of advice to improve speaking skill.
I hear a lot of people around me say "I want to speak English."
Then, I would like to suggest an easy to carry out training - "Oral English composition."
This "Oral English Composition" training is very simple.
What you need is a Oral English Composition book and what you have to do is to translate Japanese sentences into English sentences instantly.
There are several good points of this training, for example...
・You can do this training alone!
・You can train your grammar structure and increase vocabulary!
・You can improve your listening and speaking!
・It's very simple and easy!
If you try this training every day, I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to speak English little by little.
Never give up and enjoy this training every day!!

本日は“１人でもできる！英語スピーキング力アップを目指すなら英作文トレーニング！”についてです。

自分の友人・知人の人たちの“英語が話せたらなぁ”という声を時々、耳にします。

その時、１つおすすめしたいのが誰でも簡単に実行できる“口頭英作文トレーニング”です。

この英作文トレーニングはとても簡単でシンプル！

必要な物はご自身のレベルにあった口頭英作文の本、そしてその本の使い方は、日本語を英語に（できる限り早く）訳すのみです。

この英作文トレーニングのメリットはいろいろとあり、例えば…

・１人でスピーキングのトレーニングができる

・文法の構造が定着＋語彙が増やせる

・リスニング力＋スピーキング力のアップができる

・トレーニングは非常にシンプルでどこでもできる

以上のようなメリットがあります。

この英作文トレーニングを続けますと少しずつ英語が口から出るようになると思います。

Today, I'd like to write about a unique point of our English school.
English Plus has English school and cafe.
Everyone can use our English Plus Cafe and we sometimes hold fun English events at our cafe.
Our Cafe is not big and neither is our English school.
One good point of our small English school is we can see each student's progress a little more clearly.
So, teachers can recognize each student's strength and weakness.
To assist students' improvements in English, we are giving each student different speaking tasks whenever they visit us!
The tasks depend on each student's purposes or their weaknesses.
For example, if a student needs to speak correctly with Simple Past tense, we check verb forms with the student and ask him/her to make sentences.
Hopefully, they will acquire good communicative English skills and can use English anytime, anywhere!!

本日は“小さな英語学校の取り組み - レッスン外の生徒一人一人のスピーキング力アップの取り組み”についてです。

English Plusには英語学校＆カフェがあり、英語環境のカフェはどなた様でもご利用いただけます。

カフェは小さいのですが、生徒の方に限らず、皆様に気軽に英語を楽しんでもらえるような様々な英語のイベントも企画・実施しています。

英語学校もカフェ同様小さいのですが、小さいならではのメリットを活かせるように努力しています。

レッスンは少人数制で、各生徒の強み・弱みを把握することができます。

現在、英語学校ではこの少人数制という点を大いに利用し、生徒の方がEnglish Plus（学校・カフェ）にお越しいただいた際、レッスンで見つかった英語力の弱み（特にスピーキング力）を克服するために、一人一人に合ったスピーキングの課題をお出ししています。
（＊レッスンを通して各生徒様のスピーキングの課題を講師が見つけていくというスタイルのため、課題をお出しするまで時間を要する点ご了承ください）

課題は各生徒の英語の目標や強化する点など、状況によって違うので一概には言えないのですが、ある方の場合は“英語の正確さ”（例えば過去形の文章を正しく作るなど）をスピーキングの課題としています。

レッスン外でお越しいただいた時でも、英語スピーキング力アップのお手伝いをして、生徒の方一人一人がしっかりと使える英語力の獲得をしてもらえるよう、今日もしっかりとサポートをしていきたいと思います。

Today, I'd like to introduce one of self-study trainings.
The training I'm going to introduce today is good for improving reading skill and TOEIC score!
I am personally doing this training almost everyday these days since I found out my weakness from the previous TOEIC test I took in March.
With this training, what you need is (maximum) 5 minutes every day and a TOEIC test book.
What you need to do is very simple!
Just answer one single passage or double passage.
If you can't answer all the questions in the official TOEIC test, in this training, you should limit your time to 3～4 minutes in order to read more quickly!
The most important key to improve your English skill & TOEIC score is to continue every day, so just try from today with the TOEIC material you have now!

本日は“毎日英語学習が続けられない人向けのおすすめTOEICリーディングトレーニング”です。

今日のトレーニングは読む力＋TOEICスコアを伸ばすのにとてもおすすめです。

３月にTOEICテストを受験してしっかりと自分の弱点（リーディング）もはっきりしたので、個人的にもこのトレーニングをほとんど毎日しています。

このトレーニングに必要なのは毎日の５分間と今お手持ちのTOEICの本（Part7が入っていれば何でも良い）です。

トレーニングの仕方は“毎日１題読んで、解く！”これだけです。

実際のTOEIC公式テスト受験時に全て解答し終わらない方には、このトレーニングがとても効果的です！

もっとリーディングのスピードを速くしたい方はタイマーを使って３～４分にセットすると良いと思います。

このトレーニングで一番大切なポイントは毎日の継続！です。

毎日続けますとリーディングのスキル、TOEICポイントアップのみでなく、英語能力向上に役立ちますので毎日続けましょう！

Today, let's learn some English expressions.
In the lessons at our English school, students often talk about "length of time."
For example, a student said, "I worked out at the gym for one hour yesterday" or something else.
Simple time expressions, such as one hour or thirty minutes are easy for students to use.
However, I see that students find it difficult to express "90 minutes."
In this case, simply you can say "ninety minutes."
Or you can say...
"one and a half hours"
"an hour and a half"
You can use these expressions like these too...
"an hour and a quarter" (75 min)
"an hour and three quarters" (105 min)
"an hour and twenty minutes" (80 min)
When you have a chance, try to use them!!

本日は“英語レッスンの中でもよく使う“９０分”という単位の英語表現”です。

English Plus（英語学校）のレッスンの中で、生徒の方たちが“時間”に関しての英語を使っているのを耳にします。
例： "I worked out at the gym one hour yesterday" （昨日、ジムで１時間エクササイズをしました）

１時間（one hour）や３０分（thirty minutes）のように馴染みのある英語表現であれば、比較的容易に使えているのですが“９０分”になると、英語が少し難しいようです。

９０分の英語表現はシンプルに“ninety minutes”でもＯＫですが、この他に・・・

“one and a half hours”
“an hour and a half”

のような“１時間３０分”という言い方も可能です。

またこれらを応用して、以下も使えます。

“an hour and a quarter”(75 min)
“an hour and three quarters”(105 min)
“an hour and twenty minutes”(80 min)
