Good morning and thank you very much for your time to stop by English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, let's practice English from English Plus' lessons.
At English Plus, we encourage our students to try to speak English a lot especially during lessons.
Once in a while, they make some mistakes, but they really try hard and try to express what they want to say in their own words. (Great Job!)
Through the lessons at English Plus, I realized there are some mistakes our students often make, so today let's review not to make the same mistake again.
Now, let's find errors from our lessons during the third week of February in 2022 below.

Today, let's learn some English vocabulary from English Plus' lessons.
During English Plus' lessons, our students have a chance to talk about a wide variety of topics.
In the lesson, they talk about a topic, and the topics change frequently and naturally.
For instance, when they talk about cooking, the topic of cooking changes to ingredients, a recipe, a favorite grocery store, some items they saw in a supermarket, and so on.
To continue conversation naturally and freely, in addition to basic English knowledge of grammar, it's necessary to know about vocabulary.
Knowledge of vocabulary often helps us to communicate.
During one of this year's English lessons, our students talked about "alcohol" since we have had some opportunities to drink alcohol in end-of-year parties, new-year parties, and so on.
Actually, alcohol has a lot of kinds, and today let's learn English vocabulary about alcohol especially "Japanese and Chinese alcohol."
Now, let's check the vocabulary below.
1. 日本酒 ＝ sake
2. 焼酎 ＝ shochu (Japanese distilled beverage)
3. 泡盛 ＝ awamori (Okinawan distilled beverage)
4. 梅酒 ＝ plum wine
5. 紹興酒 ＝ Shaoxing wine
To master vocabulary, you can either of the techniques below.
・Read out loud
・Write
・Check the spelling carefully
If you want to know more about alcohol, you should google and find the information in English.
In this case, you can learn about alcohol and read English.
You might use the vocabulary above during conversation sometime in the future, so let's get prepared for such an opportunity from now.

During English Plus' lessons, our students talk about a wide variety of topics, and one of the topics they frequently talk about is "food."
However, food means "ingredients", "seasoning", "recipes", "restaurants", and so on, so our students use their knowledge, experience and English ability in order to communicate smoothly.
Actually, we talk about a lot of topics, and today let's learn vocabulary from our recent conversation lessons.
The ones we're learning today are frequently used during lessons.

It's almost at the end of October and it's getting cooler and cooler day by day in Tamachi, Tokyo.
This season, when I go grocery shopping, I can see some appetizing autumn food.
So, today let's learn some English vocabulary about some autumn food.
For example...
・sweet potato (satsumaimo)
・matsutake mushroom (matsutake)
・chestnut (kuri)
・ginkgo nut (ginnan)
・salmon (sake)
・saury (sanma)
・persimmon (kaki)
・Japanese citron (yuzu)

今日学習するトピックは“調味料”に関する英語です。

身の回りには色々な調味料があり、いろいろな場所（家、レストラン、スーパー等）で見かけることもできます。
