English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to announce English Plus' year-end holiday schedule in 2023-2024.
There are only about three weeks left in 2023, which means Christmas & New Year's Day are just around the corner.
During our lessons at this time of a year, we often ask this question to our students "What's your plan this year-end holiday?", and the answers this year are such as, planning to go back to their hometown, going skiing, staying overseas, relaxing at home, and so on.
Speaking of winter holiday, I'd like to announce English Plus' year-end holiday schedule.
English Plus is going to be closed from December 24th to January 8th.
During this time, both English school, and study abroad support service are not available.
From 10:00 am on January 9th (Tue) 2024, English Plus school is going back to the regular schedule.
If you have any questions about English Plus, please ask us by e-mail during this holiday. (It might take some time to reply, but we'll reply as early as possible.)

Once in a while, they make some mistakes, but they really try hard and try to express what they want to say in their own words. (Great Job!)
Through the lessons at English Plus, I realized there are some mistakes our students often make, so today let's review not to make the same mistake again.
Now, let's find errors from our lessons during the fourth week of last November below.

おはようございます。東京都港区田町の英語学校English Plus英語講師のarataです。


本日は“English Plusのレッスンの復習 ～ 自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力をつけていこう ～ 2019年1月第3週の英語レッスンの復習（日本語編）”です。

English Plusではレッスン中は特に、受講生に間違いを恐れることなく英語を話してもらうようにサポートしています。

レッスン内では学んだ語彙・文法を使って、できる限り「自分の言葉で英文を作り、英語でコミュニケーションができる基礎英語力の習得」を目指しています。

９０分間のレッスン内では、基本的に“英語のみ”なので、時に会話のトピック（自分のことや、日常生活、社会一般の事など）が難しい話題になったりもしますが、レッスン受講生は自分の持っている英語力を駆使してがんばっています。

English Plusでは、どのような場面やトピックでも自分の英語力で乗り切れるえるように、基礎の部分となる基礎英語力（自分で英文が自由に作れる英語力）をつけるためにレッスンや自己学習をサポートしていますが、その基礎英語力の大事な中の１つに“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”があります。

今日はこの“自分の英語の間違いに気づける英語力”の復習と題し、１月第３週のレッスン受講生の英語の間違いから英語の復習・トレーニングをしていきたいと思います。

早速、下記の文の間違いに気づいてみましょう。（答えは下記にありますので、よろしければご確認ください）

3. The problem is going to fix this afternoon.

4. The flu is popular in Tokyo these days.

スムーズかつ自然に正しい英文ができるように基礎英語力アップのために、学んだ後は音読トレーニング等の復習・トレーニングを重ねましょう。

Good morning and thank you very much for visiting English Plus blog!
Today, I’d like to write about this winter vacation.
This past winter vacation, I had a chance to go to Canada and the U.S. (It was not for fun but for business though.)
Actually, I visited some English schools in Canada (Vancouver & Toronto), and the U.S. (Hawaii).
The main purpose of this trip was to visit some English schools in Vancouver, Honolulu, and Toronto to see and know if I can recommend the schools for those who are thinking about studying abroad.
Even though I checked some basic information such as transportation system before I visited each city, I tried to see and check each city and school as a student, who has no experience studying or living abroad.
All of the schools' staff I met this time were very friendly, and I felt the schools have good atmosphere to enjoy learning English.
(Thanks to each school's staff, I was able to talk to the school’s owners, Japanese marketing directors, and the other staff members.)
Now, I got some useful information, and I can recommend the schools more easily and clearly to the students who are thinking about studying abroad!
We'll update each schools' information on English Plus' website and in English Plus as soon as possible. (If it's up, I will let you know.)
When I visited each city, I was surprised by each city's development!
The last time I visited Vancouver was about a decade ago, and it has changed a lot since then.
Toronto has also been changing to become a bigger city compared with the last time I stayed in Toronto about 7 years ago.
I heard the skyline is different if I see downtown from Toronto island.
I felt that both Vancouver and Toronto are very convenient cities since the public transportation system was good, the food was also nice, and the people were quite friendly.
So, I can say that both Canadian cities are good place for studying English!
It was my first visit to Honolulu and it was a good experience to go there and know about the city.
I personally felt it's a very relaxing place and good place to learn English.
A lot of things happened during this trip, some of which were fun and others were surprising, and one thing I realized was "English makes travel more fun!"
This is just my opinion but if we can communicate with people from all over the world, not only trip but life is more fun.
That's what I realized from this trip and I'll do my best to support our students to improve English skills at English Plus!

Today, I'd like to write about the network communication speed at English Plus cafe.
Last Friday, Mr. Takeuchi, who is a medium and small corporate business consultant, came to English Plus for business consultation.
When he came, we checked the network communication speed at English Plus cafe.
What we found out was that we're in the LTE area!
With Docomo's Xi & E-mobile's LTE service, the network communication speed was sometimes over 10Mbps on average.
(This result depends on computers and their settings, so we can't guarantee the speed.)
So, you can enjoy network communication without any stress!
If you are looking for a relaxing place to use your computer in Tamachi, English Plus is available from 10AM to 8PM on weekdays and 8AM to 4PM on Sat.
FYI: I'm afraid we don't lend customers our network devices, so please use your own devices.

本日は“English Plusカフェでの通信速度チェック”です。

先週の金曜日に中小企業診断士の竹内幸次先生にコンサルをお願いした時、English Plusカフェでの通信機器の速度の測定をしていただきました。

初めてLTEの機器で通信速度をチェックしていただいたのですが、English PlusはLTEのエリア圏内ということがわかりました。

測定したのはNTTドコモのXi（クロッシィ）とE-mobileのLTEサービス対応機器でした。

どちらの機器でも平均速度（ビット/秒）１０Mbpsを超えていました。
（この平均速度はコンピューターの性能、セッティングにより異なりますのご了承ください）

English Plusカフェでの通信速度は速いので、すいすいと快適な高速通信が楽しめると思います！

なお、English Plusカフェは平日１０時～２０時、土曜日８時～１６時まで営業しております。

ゆっくりとリラックスできる環境でパソコンを使用したい方はお気軽にどうぞ！
パソコン用の電源もご利用いただけます！

Today, I'd like to write about a bookshelf at English Plus Cafe.
In the day before yesterday's blog, I wrote about my plan to organize our bookshelf at English Plus cafe.
It took some time, but I finished organizing the bookshelf yesterday!
Now the books are divided into 3 categories.
One is easy-to-read books!
Another is for those who want to improve TOEIC score and reading skills!
The other is magazines, dictionaries, self-help books and so on.
If you come to English Plus, just relax with coffee and English books!!

本日は“カフェで英語にもっと慣れ親しんでもらうための本棚整理完了”です。

一昨日のブログでEnglish Plusカフェの本棚の整理について書かせてもらいましたが、あれから時間を見つけては少しずつ本の整理などをしましたので、少しは本棚の英語の本が手に取りやすくなりました！

本棚は３つのカテゴリーに分かれましたので、どの本が良いのか少しはわかりやすくなったかと思います。

ちなみに３つのカテゴリーは・・・

・英語に慣れていない人でも楽しめる本（絵本など）

・TOEICスコアアップやリーディング力強化を目指している方へおすすめの多読のための本

・辞書や雑誌、自己啓発など役に立つ本

となっております。

手淹れのコーヒー＆英語の本が楽しめるEnglish Plusカフェは平日夜２０時までオープンしていますので、お時間がございましたら是非お立ち寄りください！

Thank you very much for visiting English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to write about a plan at English Plus cafe.
At our English Plus cafe, there are some English books for customers to read.
For example, there are picture books and kids can enjoy reading them with parents!
Some of them are easy-to-read books, such as Penguin Readers or Oxford Bookworms, which are good to help to improve reading skills!!
There is also a wide variety of books, such as landscape photography, hockey books and so on.
Also, we have some difficult ones, such as self-help books!
Currently, we're displaying the books randomly because I thought it was better.
However, I found out that customers find it difficult to choose which books are good for them to read.
So, I've decided to arrange these books!
What I mean is I'm going to display the books according to their difficulties.
It might take some time to sort out but I'll do it a.s.a.p!!

English Plusカフェには英語の本・雑誌が置いてあり、カフェのお客様はご自由にお読みいただけます。

英語の本は子供も楽しめる英語の絵本や、比較的簡単に読め、語彙力・リーディング力の強化も期待できる“Penguin Readers”や“Oxford Bookworms”などの本も置いてあります。

またその他にもカナダの風景写真集やホッケーに関する本、自己啓発書など、いろいろな種類の本が置いてあります。

現在、これらの本はカフェの本棚にランダムに置かれていますが最近、生徒の方から“どの本が自分のレベルに合っているかわからない”ということをお聞きしましたので、“キッズ用、初級用、中級用など”に並び替えることに決めました。

ランチの時間外など隙間の時間で作業をすることになりそうなので、少し時間がかかるかもしれませんが、早速とりかかりたいと思います！！

少し英語から離れている方でも、英語に触れたくなったらお気軽にカフェにどうぞ！！
