From this past March, we hear or see a lot of news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites.
They say more and more people are still infected with the Coronavirus all around the world.
In some countries, the situation of COVID-19 is getting worse day by day.
It depends on a country or city, but most government (country or city) are taking some preventive measures against this virus.
In Japan, the government is asking the people in Japan to take some actions to prevent Coronavirus.
So, today, let's learn some English expressions to answer "Are there any basic preventive measures against COVID-19 in your country?", for instance:

In my country, we are asked to...
・Wash hands frequently with soap for about 20 seconds & Use hand sanitizer
・Keep social distancing to maintain at least 1 meter distance between people
・Avoid 3Cs, such as Closed spaces, Crowded places, and Close-contact setting
Also, our government recommends we avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, and so on

Good morning and thank you very much for your time to stop by English Plus blog!
English Plus is a small school located in Tamachi, Tokyo.
We're providing fun, student-centered, practical English lessons.


Today, I'd like to write about one of the features of English Plus' lesson.
English Plus is a small, friendly, fun, and also has a family atmosphere English school; thus, we can listen to our students' comments directly and support them by providing necessary service in order to help them improve their English skills.
That's the reason why when we know and realize their weakness, we can suggest some effective self-training methods for each of them.
We usually tell our students that "taking lessons regularly" is important, and also "doing self-study constantly" is also necessary to improve English skills.
To maximize the efficiency of lessons, at English Plus, we mainly provide 90-min group lessons, which consist of maximum 4 students in a class.
After the lessons, we give our students some homework and most of them try and submit it the next time they take lessons.
It's because we have decided our school motto "Every day English" and we encourage our students to do some English study in their free time.
In addition to our school system, there are various features of our lessons, and today I'd like to write one of them.
One of our lesson features is "Practical & Original curriculum and lesson."
All of our group lessons are based on our original curriculum, which means our students don't use or follow specific textbooks.
This means our students never do "repeat after me" or "memorize dialogues in a textbook" during our lessons.
Instead, in our conversation lessons, our students try to make dialogues by themselves.
For instance:
Student A: Ask B a question (e.g. What did you do last weekend?)
Student B: Answer A's question (e.g. I went shopping.)
Student A: Listen to B's answer and make a comment & ask another question related to the answer (e.g. I see. Where did you go shopping?)
Student B: Answer A's question and ask A a question (e.g. I went to Odaiba. How about yourself? What did you do last weekend?)
Student A&B's conversation continues.
This is just an example and in our lessons, we encourage our students to speak a lot during lessons.
In order for them to speak a lot and enjoy communication, we try to support our students to acquire basic English skills through the lessons and self-study support.
Basic English skills at English Plus mean they can make sentences freely and accurately.
To master basic English skills and communication skills, our lessons are carried out on our practical original curriculum.
Our original curriculum contains our instructors' teaching experience and some important points that we've learned through TESL curriculum.
The curriculum is separated by each level, from beginner to high intermediate, and our students can effectively learn important tips for acquiring basic English and communication skills.
In addition, this curriculum includes not only our instructors' teaching experience but also our students' and staff members' learning experience, so it is more practical.
After every lesson is done, our teachers check the lesson to see if the lesson was easy for our students to understand or if there is something we should change about it.
For better lessons, we update and improve our lessons every day.
We are going to improve how to teach English from now on too.

Today, let's learn some English expressions from recent news topics of Coronavirus.
These days, we hear or see the news reports about Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on TV, the radio, and websites.
They say more and more people are infected with the Coronavirus all around the world.
In some countries, the second wave of COVID-19 is hitting and the situation is getting worse day by day.
This is surely bad news for people all over the world, and I hope the spread of Coronavirus infections will settle down soon and things will get back to normal as soon as possible.
Under this circumstance, some of us might need to send or might have a chance to send messages to someone in English.
Today, let's learn some expressions about the second wave of COVID-19 in English.

・Some experts say that the second wave of the Coronavirus will happen in Japan this autumn or winter.
・Everyone around me says the second wave of the COVID-19 will hit in Japan this autumn or winter.

If you feel these expressions are helpful, please use one of them above when necessary.
