Today, let’s learn some useful phrases that can be used at a restaurant abroad.
When I traveled abroad, one of the places I used English a lot was at a restaurant.
Since English Plus started this year, I've asked some students, who went abroad recently, what the most difficult situation to communicate in English during trip was and most of them said "at a restaurant."
So, today let’s learn some useful English that can be used at a restaurant!
At a restaurant, a waiter / waitress usually starts with this question "Are you ready to order?"
In this case, you can say...
"Yes, I’ll have...please."
or
"No, not yet. Could you give me a few more minutes?"
Also, a waiter / waitress might ask you the following question "Anything to drink?"
You can say…
"I’ll have...(draft beer) please."
"No thank you. Just water would be fine."
After meal, they might ask you this question "Anything for dessert?"or "Anything else?"
You can answer with…
"I’ll have...(please)"
"No thank you."
"Anything else?"
"That’s all."
If you can't catch what a waiter/waitress is saying, please ask "Excuse me?"
Please try to use if you have a chance at a restaurant in a foreign country!

本日は“英語講師の海外旅行から学ぶ ～ レストランで使える英語表現”です。
自分のこの冬の海外旅行の中で、英語をたくさん使った場所の１つがレストランでした。
レストランでは色々な英語のやりとりがありますが、English Plusの生徒の方（最近、海外旅行に行かれた方）に“旅行中の英語のやりとりで一番大変だった状況”をお聞きしたところ、レストランでのやりとりが難しかったとのコメントをいただきました。
そんな今日は“レストランで使える英語表現”を学んでいきたいと思います。
１．レストランでは、ウェイター（もしくはウェイトレス）の方とのやりとりの１つに "Are you ready to order?"（注文はお決まりですか？）というものがあります。
答え方としましては…
・"Yes, I’ll have... please."（…をお願いします）
・"No, not yet. Could you give me a few more minutes?"（まだ決まっていないので、もう少し時間をいただけますか？）
２．またその他には "Anything to drink?"（お飲み物はどうしましょうか？）というものがあります。
この答えとしましては…
・"I’ll have...(draft beer) please."（生ビールをお願いします）
・"No thank you. Just water would be fine."（結構です。お水をお願いします）
３．食事の後の質問としましては"Anything for dessert?"or "Anything else?"（デザートはいかがですか？）や（その他に何かありますか？）という質問があります。
答えとしましては…
・"I’ll have...(please)"（…をお願いします）
・"No, thank you."（いいえ、結構です）
・"That’s all. Just check would be fine." （お会計をお願いします）
もし相手の言っていることが聞きとれなかった場合は、"Excuse me?"（もう一度お願いできますか？）と聞き直しましょう！
