夢のアリゴ（採話地・西頚城郡青海町）
①とんとむかしがあったとい。
あるどき、村の男がふたりで、春さき、山へしばきりにいったとい。そうして、昼になって、ふたりは休んでいたとい。そうすると、ひとりの男は、すぐに眠ってしもたし、もうひとりの男は、なんとなしに眠らんでいたとい。そうすると、眠っていた男の鼻の穴から、アリゴがひとつ、はいだしてきたとい。
①A long, long time ago there was a story.
One day, in early spring, two men from the village went to a mountain to cut the grass. Then, at noon, the two men were resting, and one of the two men immediately fell asleep, but the oher man, for some reason, was unable to sleep. Then an ant crawled out of the sleeping man's nostril.
②ねむらん男が、
「はて、鼻の穴からアリゴがでてきたが。」って、おもて見ていたとい。そのアリゴが、そばにあるスギナの、とっぽう迄あがって、おっかなそうなかっこうして、もじもじしていたっけが、こんだ、戻ってきて、鼻の、べつなほうの穴に、もぐりこんだとい。そうしたらば、男は目を覚まして、
「おら、いま、おっかない夢を見た。」
「どんな夢を見た。」
「でっこい木の、とっぽうにあがって、おっかのうて、そこから落ちそうになった夢を見た。」っていうたとい。
ひとの魂が、眠っているときに、アリゴになって、遊びにでたとい。

②The man who was awake thought to himself, "Hey, an ant came out of his nostril." The ant climbed up to the top of a nearby horsetail plant and fidgeted, looking frightened, but then it came back and crawled into the other hole in the nose. After that, the man woke up and said,
"I just had a scary dream."
"What kind of dream was it?"
"It was a dream in which I climbed to the top of a huge tree and so scared that I almost fell off it."
This is that when the man was sleeping, his soul turned into an ant and went to play.
