たかすえドータの歌-14 水さへぞ

水さへぞ すみたえにける 木の葉ちる 嵐の山の 心ぼそさに

みずさえぞ すみたえにける このはちる あらしのやまの こころぼそさに

1025年 私18歳（ちょうど1000年前）　

　十月のおわりに、もといた東山へ用があって出かけた。うっそうと繁っていた木の葉も散りつくして、あたりはもはや冬景色。さらさらと流れていた水も、落ち葉にうもれて、いまは水路すいろのあとだけが見えている。

水さへぞすみたえにける木の葉散る嵐の山の心ぼそさに

In this desolate village even the clear waters in the river ceased to make a sound. Storms from the mountain blowing away the leaves probably make them too lonely to dwell. 

makeの主語はstorms　themは watersを指す　

Storms make them too lonely to dwellは、いわゆる「無生物主語」の文で、「嵐のせいで、水が住む（澄む）には淋しすぎる」と訳す。

 desolateデサレット住む人のいない 荒れ果てた 寂しい  ceaseスイースやめる   lonelyロウンリ孤独の 心細い probablyプロバブリ おそらく dwellドウエル居住する

In this desolate village 　人気ひとけのないこの村里では

Even the clear waters in the river　澄んだ川の水までが

Ceased to make a sound　　音をたてなくなった　

Storms from the mountain 　山から吹きつける嵐が

Blowing away the leaves 　葉っぱを吹き散らしている

Probably make them too lonely to dwell　寂しすぎて 住（澄）んで　　　　　　　　　

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　いられないのだろう

春秋のさだめ（４/４）

私（菅原孝標女）の歌：

あさ緑　花もひとつに　かすみつつ　おぼろに見ゆる　春の夜の月

　資通卿は、私の歌を何回も口の中で繰り返されたあと、

　　今宵より　のちの命の　もしあらば　さは春の夜を　形見とおもはむ

　

　すると、秋の夜が好きといった女官が、

　　人はみな　春に心を　よせつめり　我のみや見む　秋の夜の月

　After Lord Yoshimichi repeated my poem over and over again,

      If I were to live long after    I would think of  spring night 

      As a memento of  meeting   And talking you stories  

 Then the lady-in-waiting who said she liked autumn nights,

      Both of you seem eager about spring    I'll be the only one

      Looking at the moon alone     On an autumn night

すると、資通卿は、

「うん、これは、なかなかおもしろそうだな」と興がって、どちらにつくか、決めかねておいでのようである。お年は38歳。ダンディな男ぶりだが、浮ついたところがなく、しっとりとして、このもしいお人柄に見える。歌や蹴鞠にすぐれ、琵琶の姪shとしても知られる、当代きっての文化人であった。

  Then, Lord Sukemichi became excited and said, "Yes, this looks quite interesting." And seemed unable to decide whch side to take. His age is 38. He is dandy, but has a gentle, pleasant personality without being too pretentious. He excels at poetry and kemari, and is known as a master of biwa. He is one of the most cultural figures in our time.

 資通卿とは、そのまま別れたが、それにしてもずいぶん長話をしたものだ。資通卿は、私が誰かということも、ご存じないままであった。私のほうも、誰とも知られまいとしていた。

　I parted with Lord Sukemichi on the spot, but anyway, we had quite a long talk. He didn't even know  who I was. I didn't want him to know about me either.
