『待つわ』-㉑

㉑　彼女は突然起き上がって、窓辺へ戻った。 あの魔法が蘇ってきた ― 彼女はそれを見たのだった、それに触れたのだった。彼女はカーテンを押し戻して、窓を押し上げた。彼女の火照った顔に当たる夜の空気は、新鮮で爽やかだった。もし彼女が身をずーっと身を乗り出せば、家の隅にライラックの茂みを見ることができるだろう。香りが立ち上った、濃厚で甘い香りが。

　それから彼女は窓辺に跪いて、組んだ腕に顎を載せた。やがて月は また顔を出すだろう。私、待っていられるわ。（完）

原文：Suddenly she rose and returned to the window.  The magic belonged to her ー she had seen it, she had felt it.  She pushed back the curtains and raised the window.  The night air felt fresh and cool against her hot face.  If she leaned way out, she could see the lilac bush at the corner of the house. The perfume rose, heavy and sweet.　

  She knelt then at the window and rested her chin on her folded arms.    The moon would be out soon again.  She could wait.
