Dear friends,
Until now I got emails from all over the world with the questions about the situation in Holland.
U til last week (sunday march 15) many
Dutch peoplen complaint about the Dutch gouwernment. They did not take the corona situation really serieus. Since that sunday night many things are changing.
In this email will have many mistakes because I do not use my computer but type at me mini Ipad. Sorry for that.
Day by day was changing.
From that sunday we heard from our prime minister that all restaurants, bars, coffebars, hotel-restaurants, museums, themeparks, schools, offices, cinema’s, keukenhof, concerthalls, opera/ballyhals, sporting halls, etc. Etc. Our airport Schiphol is almost closed. All Dutch people who were somwhere in the world were asked all directly to come home. Serious!
Big part of our boarders have been closed to foreifners. We are not allowed to travel abroad anymore.
We had the last week to adjust on that. Springtime was starting with a lot of sun in the parks. Ofcourse many Dutch went to the parks
But today we got a stronger message: people please stay at home, do not go to parks!
Foodmarkets/supermarkets and shops are open.
But slowly shops are also starting to close.
We expect that coming week we get deeper regulations.
Most difficult is that since two days ago we cannot visit our grandparents in elderly homes anymore.
And allready longer time grandchildren cannot visit grandparents anymore. This means that I cannot visit my 85 years old sister Lenie in the elderlyhome anymore. Also my 4 sisters children cannot visit her mother. But in some way I think my sister does not realle realise (I hope so). But also my sister does have lungs in bad condition. Very sad if she will not survice this corona crises and we are not able to say bye bye.
A little about my travel .office. Like “almost all offices” they are closed for several weeks. So the same for my trips to Japan.
The Dutch gouvernment does promiss money to entrepreneurs when they have to stop there business. Same people who lose there job. Many of both. I hooe gouvernment has also some extra for me. All is to make economy will not go down to much. Understand?
But the admosphere in Amsterdam and the rest of Holland is fantastic. People are very friendly and helpfull. And that I did not see for many many years all over Holland.
At this moment we still have all kind of transportation and plenty of food. Only we have to stay at home, every day. People whi work in a offive they almost all do work at home now. And also all children are at home. No funny go out at night to drink something and relax. And ofcourse we cannot go abroad!
By this way I want to tell you that I am very healthy and positive thinking. Live is going on. Also everything is OK with my sister Jane and family and ofcourse also my friend Elsisabeth. She takes care of her farm with cows, sheep and a few new chicken. She is happy. Only we expect that we cannot go on travelling for a long time. But this is no problem at all.
How does the corona situation you?
I am happy to be a Dutch citizen. I have a beautifull apartment (very important to have a good home).
Best of all is I am very thankfull what life brings me with a lot of happiness inside my heart.
But I also can see many very difficulties in my country. Thanks for all. Be welcome in my home!
Warm greatings
