ペルー：大統領の給料を二倍に引き上げ

　それなりの給与を出す必要はあるし、地域内であんまり低すぎてもどうも宜しくないというのもわかる。しかしまあ、私の英文読解が正確なら、支持率2％の政治家がやることでもないように思う。政治的な延命を図らんでええんかな、という。

「The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, has issued a decree doubling her salary despite having a historically low approval rating of only 2%.

She will now be paid more than 35,500 soles ($10,000; £7,300) per month.」

　急に二倍にあげて、月額1万ドル相当。

「Her new salary is almost 35 times that of the monthly minimum wages, which stands at 1,025 soles ($288; £210).」

　最低賃金の35倍。
　本邦で考えれば、時給1000円×8時間×22日×12で211万2千円。これが最低賃金水準といえる。その35倍は7392万円か。その半分、3696万円なら、大統領職の給与として本邦でも納得されそうだ。

「首相は4049万円、閣僚は2953万円、副大臣は2833万円――。政権の要職の給与は「特別職の職員の給与に関する法律」で定められている」

　…その二倍。まあまあ厳しい。

　前任者が弾劾で失職したあとを埋めた副大統領だったということもあり、民主的正当性に微妙な課題を残してもいる。
　姐さん、ええかげんにしとこうや、という気は多分にする。
