やせたレネーには、理由があった

今日から『シンデレラマン』が全国公開されるというので、ゴウ先生は映画評をこのブログに書こうとしていました。ところが、それよりもショッキングなニュースが飛び込んできました。

この間日本に来たばかりで、ブログにも書いたレネー・ゼルウィガーが、結婚解消をしたというのです。やはりやせすぎていたのには、理由があったのでした。可哀想なレネー・・・。

　５月に米カントリー歌手、ケニー・チェズニー（３７）と結婚したオスカー女優、レニー・ゼルウィガー（３６）が“スピード離婚”することが１６日、分かった。１２日に都内で開いた出演映画の来日会見では、結婚生活をノロけていただけに、関係者もビックリだ。

　破局を報じた米ピープル誌などによると、レニーは１４日、カリフォルニア州裁判所に婚姻無効の申請書を提出。破局理由を、「結婚生活がニセモノだった」とし、夫に慰謝料を与える意思はないという。双方の広報担当者は別れたことを認めているものの、詳細は明らかにしていない。

　２人の不仲説は何度も報じられてきた。ある雑誌は「交際期間が短かったので、レニーはケニーが本気で怒ったところを見たことがなかった。結婚して初めて彼の支配欲の強さが分かった」と報道。レニーは度々「寂しい」「不安だ」と周囲に漏らしていたという。別の雑誌は「結婚後、夫と一緒に過ごしたのはわずか１５日」と報じたが、レニーはそのつど、危機説を否定していた。

　また、レニーは、１７日に日本で公開される米映画「シンデレラマン」（ロン・ハワード監督）のＰＲのため今月１０日に来日。翌１２日の会見では、夫と映画の主人公の共通点を聞かれ、「強くて優しいところ。仕事を一生懸命するところやファンに優しくするところも似ているわ」と笑顔でノロけたばかり。左手薬指には結婚指輪が輝いていただけに離婚の真相に注目が集まりそうだ。

　婚姻無効は、結婚の事実を抹消するものでレニーに離婚歴はつかない。

Renée Speaks Out on Kenny

Four months after their beachside wedding, Renée Zellweger and country singer Kenny Chesney are having their marriage annulled.

Zellweger filed the papers Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing "fraud" as the reason for the split. The actress's petition also asks the court not to award spousal support to Chesney.

In a statement released Friday, Zellweger sought to "clarify that the term 'fraud' as listed in the documentation is simply legal language and not a reflection of Kenny's character.

"I would personally be very grateful for your support in refraining from drawing derogatory, hurtful, sensationalized or untrue conclusions and greatly appreciate your understanding that we hope to experience this transition as privately as possible," the statement read.

Zellweger added that she wants "to maintain the integrity of our privacy by not commenting on the specifics of our decision."

Chesney followed up with his own statement Friday echoing Zellweger's sentiments. "This is an incredibly sad time," he said. "I just hope everyone can respect the privacy that I know Renée has already asked for."

Then, late Friday, Zellweger and Chesney released a third statement, saying that "the miscommunication of the objective of their marriage at the start is the only reason for this annulment. Renée and Kenny value and respect each other and are saddened that their different objectives prevent the success of this marriage."

No word on what the couple's "different objectives" were.

The couple were married May 9 in a sunset ceremony on St. John in the Virgin Islands before 35 close family and friends. It was the first marriage for both.

Zellweger, 36, and Chesney, 37, met at the Jan. 15 Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit, where he sang and she took phone pledges.

The pair had a whirlwind romance. On April 29, just a few weeks before their wedding, the Cold Mountain Oscar winner surprised Chesney in Jacksonville, Fla. – bringing him a margarita onstage for his song "When the Sun Goes Down" (a tradition at his shows) and kissing him on the cheek. It was the first public hint of a romance between the two.

One of Chesney's biggest hits is a song called "You Had Me From Hello," a takeoff on the famous line "You had me at hello" from Zellweger's breakout 1996 movie role opposite Tom Cruise, Jerry Maguire.

アメリカの婚姻法についてまったく明るくないので、どなたかにご教授願えれば嬉しい限りです。それでも、この記事から分かったところをまとめると、次のようになると思います。

（1）この婚姻は「詐欺（fraud)」によって始まったと認められる。
（2）ゆえに、この婚姻は成立当時の原因によって無効となりうる（annul）。
（3）婚姻を向こうとするのは、結婚当初にお互いの結婚目的に関して十分な意志疎通がなかったからである。

婚姻無効請求がレネーから出されたところを見れば、詐欺行為を犯したのはケニーの方です。何らかの虚偽の約束をケニーがしていたがゆえに、それをレネーが詐欺だと訴えたのでしょう。

ああ、あのレネーが騙されるなんて・・・。

『シンデレラマン』のジム・ブラドックは妻メイ（レネー）と3人の子供を守るために、命を懸けて戦う男でした。レネーは、そうしたジムのような夫を求めていたのだと思います。それをケニーはかなえてあげられなかったのでしょう。致し方ない結末かもしれません。

ともかく、レネーには早くこの状況から立ち直って、よい作品に出て欲しいと思います。もちろん、もう少し太っていいんですから。
