パフィオらしい独特な雰囲気のラン「パフィオペディルム・ローレンセアナム」Paphiopedilum、lawrenceanum。ボルネオ島の300mから500m の高さの石灰質の土壌などに自生する。緑と赤の花弁がどこかすごみがある。

Lawrence's Paphiopedilum [English Orchid Enthusiast 1800's]

Found in Borneo and is on limestone rocks and in leaf litter at elevations of 300 to 500 meters as a small sized, terrestrial or lithophytic, hot growing species with terete, brown pubescent roots giving rise to 5 to 6, in a fan, elliptic to narrowly elliptic, obtuse to subacute, minutely tridentate apically, pale green to yellow green, strongly tessellated with dark green leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a terminal, erect, 15 to 18" [37.5 to 45 cm] long, 1 to occasional 2 flowered, shortly pubescent, maroon inflorescence that has a small, ovate, green veined maroon floral bract that is 1/4 the length of the ovary.
