プロとアマチュアの差はなんだろうっと

What is the difference of Pro and Amateur,

映画館で新作の映画を観ながらずっと考えてしまった。

I have thought the difference while I was watching a new released movie at the theater.

なぜなら、その映画のストーリーに入る前に

Because before I could get into the movie story,

どうしても主演俳優の演技が

-somewhat the actor’s acting was zoomed up

クローズアップされて見えてしまったからだ。

-and he showed what he acted for.

ストーリーの役柄より、

Than his performance of the movie story,

俳優自身の役に対する没頭が見えて、

-his indulging for the role was showed,

視聴者である私が彼の役柄に没頭できなくなったのである。

-so, I couldn’t get into his performance in the story as an audience.

彼の演技があまりにも邪魔に感じられたので、

His performance seemed too disturbing to me,

映画のストーリーから外れて

-I was distracted from the story,

プロの俳優と新人の俳優の差は何なのかまで考えてしまったのである。

-my thought was accelerated to think what is the difference

-between a pro-actor and a rookie-actor.

プロの俳優なら、演じる役柄になり切って

A pro-actor can be the role entirely,

俳優自身をほぼゼロに近いレベルまで無くせることができる。

-he can eliminate himself to the level of almost zero.

まるでその役を演じるために生まれたような感覚まで感じさせるのだ。

He can make audience feel that he was born to perform the role.

別人になり切ることができるので、

He also can be a totally different person,

記者会見の時の俳優自身の素顔を見て驚くこともよくある。

-often surprising to see his frank face at the press conference.

ところが、助演の俳優やエキストラの演技は、

On the other hands, the performance of co-actors and extras

パターン化されて、アマチュアのように他の人が演じても

-it has patterned and can be replaced by others like an amateur,

その映画に何の影響されない、部品の一部のような感じを受ける。

-the movie casting never be influenced by them and

-their performances are like a piece as a part.

その人でなくてもいつでも入れ替えられる、付属品みたいな感じだ。

They look like an accessory which can be replaced whenever by another.

プロとはある業界で専門性を持ち、

A Pro is an expertized worker in a business,

訓練によりその道を極め

-mastered the way by the training

ある境地に達する人である。

-who has reached to a certain level.

その分野の枠から解放された状態でも言える。

Also, can say as a condition that freed from its frame in the field.

なので、仕事をやっているような感じを与えない。

Therefore, their works seem to not doing work.

当然のことを空気のようにやれているのだ。

They can do their works like air as the matter of nature.

ところが、アマチュアはまだ目標に向かっているので、

However, since the amateurs still has heading towards the goals

完成された感じを与えることができず、

-they can’t give a feeling that completed a finish line

現実と理想の間で迷う過程も見せてしまう。

-they can’t help shown their struggle processing between reality and ideal.

欠けているところを補える能力がまだ持っていないからだ。

It because they don’t have the ability that compensate for the lacking parts yet.

アマチュアは経験を必要とし,

An amateur needs experience

それによってプロに成り得っていく。

-and thereby they can become a pro.

ということは、今日の主演俳優のアマチュア的な演技は

That means, the starring actor’s amateur performance I watched today was

彼が真のプロに成れるためのステップになると言える。

-can say that it was a step for him to be a real pro.

ならば、私は彼の成功のためのステップストンになる訳か？

If then, would I be one of stepping stones for his success?

ここまで考えがジャンプしてしまったので、

As the thought, has jumped in this point

新作映画を観てもスッキリしなくなってしまった。

-I have had un-freshened feeling even watched a new movie.

やはり、坐禅をやって心を洗い直せないと…

After all, I should rinse my mind by doing zazen…
