アメリカではオバマ大統領就任で大騒ぎ、ボクもこんどの大統領は期待感が持てたので便乗。ワシントンの昨日の就任式がボクの机の上で見られるとは、スバラシイインターネット環境になった。大統領就任演説のこのYouTube映像President Barack Obama 2009 Inauguration and Addressはもう１７０万ものアクセス数らしい。
演説はふれた対象が広すぎたようではあるが彼の意欲と真剣さ、人格の迫力は十分に感じられた。詳細な演説原稿はここで見ることができる。わが尊敬する英国の偉大な政治家チャーチルは、印象的に残る名演説、名文句を数多く残した雄弁家oratorでもあった。若き国の第４４代の若き大統領はどんな道をあゆみ、世界に何を残してくれるのだろうか。
これに先立つ１月１８日ワシントンのリンカーン記念堂前で「われわれは一つ」“WE ARE ONE”のテーマでお祝いコンサートThe Obama Inaugural Celebration Concert。Usher & Shakira & Stevie Wonder の"Higher Ground"もノリがよくてよかったが、オバマさんの選挙応援もやってきたStevie Wonderよ、ちょっと自分のウェイトのほうに気をつけてよ．．．キミは、一昨年の定禅寺JAZZ祭のときI just called to say I love youで出てもらったから我慢してね．．．
フォークの神様Pete Seegerが出てきたのにはびっくり、こちらはもう９０歳なのに元気満々。たいしたもんだなあ。だって、"Where Have All the Flowers Gone?"、 "We Shall Overcome"などの彼の名曲は１９６０年代初期、第３５代John Fitzgerald Kennedyの頃の歌なのだ！あれから早や半世紀が経とうとしているのか。フォークにも敬意を評して今晩のお題は”This Land is Your Land”にしよう、みんな楽しく歌ってるね。このひと月続いてるテーマは大統領ではなく“現代”音楽の異人たちなのだから．．．
