Sales of confections commemorating PM Shigeru Ishiba's inauguration as LDP president was kicked off.
These are "Red and White Manju" and "Kawara Senbei" and on sale at the stores inside the National Diet Building since Sept. 30, which are selling well.
They are manufactured by Ofuji in Arakawa Ward, Tokyo, a company that produces confections with portraits of past prime ministers on the packaging.
The cover features an illustration of the nine candidates, who competed in the LDP presidential election, with the National Diet Building in the background, and PM Ishiba is introduced by his nickname "Gerutan."

Concerning the statue of girl symbolizing camp followers (* aka comfort women) issue, which a S. Korean civic organization (* Korea Verband) installed in a public land in Berlin, the German capital, local authorities ordered the statue to be removed, as the deadline for its installation had expired.
However, Korea Verband has claimed that it should be allowed to remain there from now on too. The focal point is therefore whether or not the statue will be removed as ordered.

Four years ago, in the Mitte District in central Berlin, Korea Verband erected the statue of girl symbolizing camp followers (* aka comfort women) issue in a public land in a residential area, while the Japanese Embassy in Berlin has called for its removal.
In such situation, the Mitte district ordered Korea Verband on Sept. 30 to remove the statue within four weeks, as the period allowing the statue to be erected was over on Sept. 28.

In late September, the district authorities indicated to order the statue's removal within short, as Korea Verband showed no stance of agreeing to the district's proposal to relocate the statue to a private land.
On the other hand, Korea Verband has argued that it should be allowed to remain on its current public land, saying that "We hope that the statue will remain in its current location,"
It also shows a stance to file a lawsuit with court, if it's ordered by the district authority to remove it. The focal point is therefore whether or not the statue will be removed as ordered.

Former LDP Secretary General Shigeru Ishiba, who is appointed the 102nd Prime Minister of Japan.
In an interview, he once spoke about his love for "Candies."
Ishiba says that he paid attention to Candies even before they made their record debut.
His favorite member is allegedly "Miki," who is beautiful, modest and seems strong-willed.
He also revealed that, in his high school period, he and some of his classmates even stole a train advertisement featuring Candies.
