英語：性格に関する表現

彼は一見おっかなく見えるが、実はとても優しい。
彼はとてもタフであり、簡単には諦めない。
彼は一見おとなしそうだが、実はとても物議を醸し出すことをいう。

彼女はとても好かれるタイプで、細かいところに気づき、他人を助けるのを厭わない。

この問題は非常に微妙で、問題の内側を簡単には説明できない。多くの人が巻き込まれ、利害が複雑化している。


He appears intimidating, but as a matter of fact, he is very kind.
He is very tough. He never gives up easily.
He is always trying to be decent in conduct, however, he is very provocative.

She is very amiable and always pay attention in details and is willingly to help others.

This issue is a little bit too delicate (touchy＝口語の場合) and I cannot explain the inside of the issue plainly. So many people got involved and their interests have been complicated.

英語：Cabin Fever

季節は全くはずれますが、雪の中に閉じこめられて、ストレスが溜まった状況を「Cabin Fever」と言うそうです。

今年は実際自分もそんな状況にはまりこんでしまいました・・・。

We're suffering from cabin fever, right. Let's have a small party!

 

英語：疑問を呈する

私はそれが機能するか否かどうか少し疑っている。彼は研究機関に業務を追加しようとしているが、研究機関の主たる問題意識は、研究することであり、情報収集活動ではない。問題は彼らのモチベーションをいかにして続けるかだ。

I'm just wondering whether it is workable (feasible) or not. He is trying to add the new function to the research institute. Needless to say, the primary interest of the research institute is to research something, not collecting information. The core issue is how we continue their motivation.

英語：花粉症

今年の花粉症は特にひどいです。

花粉症というのはどのように表現するのでしょうか。

アメリカではスギ花粉による花粉症がないようなことを言われることがありますが、とんでもないです！

I have allergy to pollen.

I am suffering from hay fever.

と言います。
