Sado Island is a beautiful place

１２月７日、佐渡に到着したジェンキンス氏のステートメントの全文を探してみましたが分かりませんでした。
同氏が脱走兵であるために国民から彼ら一家に注がれる視線は決して温かいものではありませんが、涙ながらに語る、運命に翻弄されてきた---自業自得ですから、なお感情は複雑のはず---老人の姿に私は心を動かされました。

世界から取り残された北朝鮮から佐渡を美しいと思いをはせるジェンキンス氏一家は哀れです。

ともあれ、年を越すことなく、ジェンキンス一家の長い苦難の物語が閉じられようとしてるわけですから、めでたいことです。

"For many years we lived in a one-room house that we all shared," he said in a statement to the court, according to the AP.

"We slept on the floor, there was most often no electricity, and we had no running water," the AP quoted Jenkins as saying. "We were allowed to bathe once a month, though in the summer we bathed more often in the river."
