米国内で8月15日に発売予定の 「 たまごっちコネクション（ TAMAGOTCHI CONNECTION ； 「 かえってきた！たまごっちプラス 」 の英語版 ）ですが、日曜日の夜 WAL-MART に行くと、すでに販売されていました。14.24ドル（税別）でした。
そのパッケージの裏には、
Hatch 'em!
Nurture 'em!
Raise 'em!
と書かれています。
'em = them で、これは 「 たまごっち 」 のことです。しかし、英和辞典では " nurture " と " raise " の違いが、わかりません。まあ、 「 たまごっち 」 なので想像はつきますが。
『 Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary 』(*1) で調べてみると、それぞれの語意は次のようになります。
hatch:
(of a young bird, fish, insect, etc.) to come out of an egg
to make a young bird, fish, insect, etc. to come out of an egg
nurture:
to care for and protect something while they are growing and developing
to help something to develop and successful
raise:
to care for a child or young animal until it is able to take care of itself
to breed particular farm animals
to grow particular crops
つまり、「卵を孵して、育てて、増やそう」ですね。
さらに、 " grow " と " develop " の語意は同辞書(*1)によると、
grow:
to became bigger or taller and develop into adult
develop:
to gradually grow or became bigger, more advanced, stronger, etc.
です。
「 たまごっちコネクション（ TAMAGOTCHI CONNECTION ）」 と 「 かえってきた！たまごっちプラス 」 のアイコン名称などを比較しておきましょう。
