Venus delight at Kim progress
MARK Venus says match-winner Do-heon Kim is still adapting to the English game - but is delighted with the progress the classy midfielder is making.
The Korea Republic star has arguably been the Baggies' top pre-season performer.
He fired Tony Mowbray's men to their first summer win at Northampton last night with a sublime 36th minute free kick his second spectacular goal in three games.
And assistant boss Venus feels the 500,000 snip could prove a big asset in the Barclays Premier League.
'Do-heon's a good footballer', he said.
'He's won well over 40 international caps for his country and has played at World Cups.'
'He's got to adapt to English football and I think the team have also got to adapt to him.'
'But he's a talented player and that's what we want-20-odd talented footballers who we can select from every week.'
Young guns Daved Warrall and Graham Dorrans, a summer signing from Livingston, also cought the eye at Sixfields and Venus say the future looks bright for the pair.
'It's good for the young players to come away with the first team in pre-season, get in among them and show the manager what they can do without there being any pressure on the manager or team to get points,' he added.
'They're both developing nicely.'
'People can see what Graham's got- good feet and technique and the avility to drift past people.'
'David's been here 18 months now and he's getting better.'
'He's also growing up and maturing.'
Venus added: 'All in all ti was a good night's work.'
'It's always nice to win and we deserved it.'
