僕は，英語論文の査読を日常的にやっています．大半は自分がエディタになっている雑誌 Geomorphology に投稿された論文です．この場合，論文が扱っている分野の専門家が外部査読者になっているので，僕は通常の査読とは異なり，体裁のチェックを相対的に重視します．
また，Catena や Geographical Research といった，編集委員になっている雑誌の査読も時々やっています．この場合は，外部査読者と同様の立場での査読になり，体裁よりも科学的な内容をチェックします．
これらとは別に，突然メールで，雑誌のエディタから査読を依頼されることもあります．このような形で査読を担当した雑誌のうち，インパクトファクターを持つものの数が，ちょうど20になりました．
僕は地理学の研究者なので，広い視野を持つことが重要です．いろいろな雑誌から査読を頼まれることは，多様な分野に関係する研究者であることを示唆するので，自分としては光栄です．
