心にひっかかったので、一部転載します。

～Serge Lutens is a perfume designer with a difference. For him, authenticity means making your own choice, something he has done throughout his life.～
Serge Lutens, the poet-philosopher of the perfume world, worries that authenticity is disappearing from today’s fast-paced world. “It’s considered almost a malady to be authentic today, to want to honor authenticity,” he says. The cure? Constant reflection. Always stopping to ask oneself “Why?”
“I call this reflection ‘quant à soi’, a very French expression, ” says the courtly Lutens, a slight, reserved man with a warm presence. “It’s about what you yourself think, in the first person, without any general conversation, mixing, moralizing or lying.”

making your own choices・・・この自由が万人に与えられているにも関わらず、行使しようとする人のなんて少ないことか。
自分も例に漏れておらず、ああ、つい居ずまいを正してしまう。
おそらくそこに至るまでには、真実だけをまっすぐ見つめる並みならぬ視線の強さと、そこへの絶えず渇くような烈しい欲望を必要とします。
さらに、相当の曇りを、思考から取り除かなくてはならないことでしょう。
だから、というか、やはり、というか。
この人物もわりと、森茉莉さんいうところの「モンストゥリュオジテ（怪物性）」を持つ人物ですよね。
恐るべきクリエイター。
ほんとうに、卓越した人物には、いつも「モンストゥリュオジテ」と同居する、永遠の子供のような強く光る無垢があります。
ルタンスさんの場合は、こういう悪戯したりするらしいんですよ・・・

He once passed a test strip with no scent on it to a group sitting around a table and asked them what they thought of it. “Someone said, ‘I really like this one’. Another one said ‘This one’s not bad.’”
まあこのお方がこんなことしたら、下々の衆としては「なにか良さそうなこと言わなきゃ！」と思いますよね・・・。しかし、これこそ、

ということであり、

と彼が強調するゆえんなのでしょう。
