Niimi English Salon #145(NIEA's English Lesson 5)

2011-12-06 12:21:16 | 日記
As I had announced, on this blog (第145回新見英語サロン(新見市国際交流協会第5回英語講座)のご案内 and Announcement of NIEA’s English Lesson #5 (Niimi English Salon #145)), we had the 145th Niimi English Salon(Niimi International Exchange Association English Lesson #5) on November 29th.

The theme of this lesson is shopping English.

First we practiced English phrases used in shopping situations:
May I help you?
How may I help you?
What are you looking for?
Do you have something in particular in mind?
How about ~?
What’s your size?
I’ll measure you.
How do[would] you like to pay?
Would you like to pay in cash [by credit card, by debit card, by traveler’s check]?
Paper or plastic?
Could you sign here?

I’m just looking around, thank you.
I’m looking for ~.
Do you have ~?
Do you sell ~ here?
Where is the ~ section?
Do you have larger[smaller] size?
Do you have this in blue[red, pink, yellow….]?
How much is this?
How much in total?
Could you give me some discount, please?
Can I use credit card [traveler’s check] here?
I’d like to use this coupon.

Next we introduced bills and coins in the United States and Canada.
After that, each ALT introduced her or his shop.
Andrew has a liquor store, and this is his item list.

And his store is like this.

He has colorful bottles of liquor.

Caroline owns a pet shop. Her item list is like this.

In that shop, there are various kinds of pets sold.

Latasha also works as a sales clerk in this shop.

Next shop is Melissa’s bakery named “Meli Pan.”
Her items list is this:

Inside her store, she sells wonderfully packaged sweets like this.

Melissa baked delicious cookies for us.

This is Lovely Fruit & Cookie Hearts, the best seller in Meli Plan according her item list, and my wife and I really enjoyed these cookies after the lesson.

Next store is Elizabeth’s fruit shop.
She has colorful fruits all around.

Elizabeth is kind enough to bring these fruit cards as well as other cards for the other shops, posters and play money.

Donald Wynn has the nicely named Wynn’s Sport Shop.

And last not least, this is Yamauchi Bank.
In this bank, they have miniature play money both in the US and Canadian currency.

A customer of this bank may freely walk in the bank and cut as much money by himself/herself as he or she wishes. How generous!

Now that everybody has money, they can enjoy shopping in this great shopping mall.

I myself bought various kinds of things at the shops.

I believe everybody enjoyed this lesson.
