「The cause of the crash is unclear, but some reports suggest the bus may have had an issue with its brakes failing.
Road accidents are not uncommon in Nepal, and are usually caused by bad roads or poorly maintained vehicles.」

「More than 60 people, mostly children, are reported missing after the vessel they were travelling in capsized off Mozambique's coast.
The ship, carrying people and goods, had left Nacala port at 15:30 local time on Thursday for Memba district in northern Nampula province, according to state broadcaster Radio Mozambique.
It’s believed that the accident was caused by bad weather, which affected the region on Thursday afternoon.」

「Sierra Leone has formally abolished the death penalty, after President Julius Maada Bio signed into law a new measure outlawing capital punishment that was agreed by MPs in July.
"As a nation, we have today exorcised horrors of a cruel past," the president said in a statement quoted by AFP news agency.
"We today affirm our belief in the sanctity of life."」

The International Committee of the Red Cross is warning that the climate crisis is making an already dire situation there much worse ? the country consists mainly of desert or semi-desert and water is becoming a dwindling precious resource.
A dry bed is what remains of Lake Faguibine. It is situated 80km (49miles) west of Timbuktu. Sand dunes have replaced the vast expanse of water and the temperature can reach 50C (122F).」
「"At COP26 we call on world leaders to take concrete action, concrete engagement, to bring climate action closest to those suffering in silence, where unfortunately, and until today, the action has been underwhelming to say the least,” said Patrick Youssef of International Committee of the Red Cross.」

The scandal involves more than $2.7bn (£2bn) of undisclosed state debts - money which the government borrowed to set up a sophisticated tuna industry - to buy trawlers and military patrol boats, but much of it was allegedly diverted to corrupt officials.」
