BBC US conducts first airstrike under Biden in Somalia 21 Jun 2021

「The US has carried out an airstrike against Islamist al-Shabab militants in Galkayo in northern Somalia.

Tuesday's airstrike was the first since President Joe Biden took office.」

「The US had been supporting the Somali army that was under attack by the militants, Defense Department Spokeswoman Cindi King said.

An assessment of the damage was still being done but initial reports were that no civilians were injured, she said.」

　バイデンとしてはドローン攻撃を抑制したい意向の様子。…あれはあれで、米兵が危険にさらされにくいという、これはこれで素晴らしい効果があるわけだが。もっとも、高度を取って爆撃・襲撃するぶんについては、まあそうまで危険ではないかもしれない。ソマリアに、そうまで高度な対空装備は―少なくとも潤沢ではあるまいし。
