Part7. Why Doctor live with 14 cat in Fukushima?- Fight against COVID-19 n Answer to title question

2020年05月02日 | 14 cats and resident Eiji

 Hello.

My name is Kan, I am one of the 14 cats of Eiji who is a resident of Soma General Hospital.

This time I (Kan) write this blog instead. Because Eiji went to Fukushima Medical University Hospital for medical intern. For training there, Otolaryngology, Obstetrics and gynecology, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology and Emergency department, every month. Except emergency department these medical department is unable to training at Soma General Hospital.

And now, Fukushima Medical University Hospital plays a role in responding to patients who need hospitalization for new coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

The emergency department was scheduled in June, Eiji is currently applying for one more month (July). Because that is where those patients are first touched and have intensive care.

Eiji return to Soma in a weekend.

And yesterday (02/05/2020) at Soma city has first patient with COVID-19 positive.

Here, I hope you will take a break in this difficult social situation.

I try to introduce you about how I became one of the 14 cats.

Four years before, I lived in Matsukawa town of Fukushima city.

I don’t know my age, I was old and thin, stray cat.

One day one person moved in my territory.

I was looking at what kind of idiot had moved to the shabby house.

How shabby? At first, appearance, not only outlook, inside did not betray its shabbiness. For example in a winter, the water in the house was frozen at daytime. Not only wind but snow entered from the window gap. Few minutes after twisting the tap needed to the water becomes clear

3 people were carrying the luggage. Eiji, Mr. Kanno and realtor. Soon, I knew why the person moved here. Eiji was not alone, a lot of cats came together. And there was no choice for the distressed student, who could not live without a part-time job, live cheap rent.

From this day, it’s became my daily routine to visit them, be surprised, make a fuss or selling a fight to them over the window.

Nevertheless, outside of the house were a meal for me every day. Eiji tried to pull me into the house, but I ran away and refused. I didn’t know, I’m not cute, beautiful or funny, also didn’t know house cat life.

While doing so one year has passed.

And new faces, four cats, came to seeking food.

Tora and Bela or Sako...Sakp is too shy and

Tora and Bela or Sako...Bela is too shy and run away . So it was difficult to take a picture of Bela.

Dona, don't move.

Sako

I shared the foods what were given for me.

Different from me, new four faces (Dona, Bela, Sako and Tora) were friendly.

They came every morning and night, but the person didn’t pull them into the house.

It may be because they weren’t kitten or sick. Or, Eiji couldn't put them in the house, without me.

While doing so, The day had come when the usual day will break.

Skinny cat who had something like tumor in his mouth, came. The tumor didn’t allow the cat bite. Couldn’t bite is couldn’t eat and it means couldn’t live.

The person take him to the animal hospital. And know it was not tumors, it was rubber piece.

Took off rubber piece and after came back from the hospital, release the cat outside.

But he stay around the house.

Eiji invited him. This is Kazuto.

Not only Kazuto, in avalanche, four friendly cats, Dona, Bela, Sako and Tora, became the member.

At this time something changed inside me, I quit escape and refuse from the person.

After one year from the first meet, I say goodbye from stray cat’s life. And became to live with them.

My name Kan, comes from Eiji’s friend and our guardian Mr. Kanno.

At last, On behalf of 14 cats, I will give to you the answer about the title, “Why Doctor live with 14 cat in Fukushima?” .

To tell the truth, Dog person Eiji will not know the reason.

  It’s because

We decided to live with Eiji.

from the left Bela Kazuto Tora Sako BB.

“However bad life may seem, Where there's life, there's hope.”

I hope you will be fine and see you again.

Perform blood tests if pneumonia is present. And if a patient with a high likelihood of infection is found, refer to the outpatient clinic for returnees and contacts through the Returnees and Contacts Consultation Center.

Part 2. Why Doctor live with 14 cats in Fukushima? --Leo's life

2019年06月02日 | 14 cats and resident Eiji

 Hello.

My name is Leo, I am one of the 14 cats of Eiji who is a resident of Soma General Hospital.

This time I (Leo) write this blog instead.

I try to introduce you about one day of our life.

Usually Eiji wake up at 6:30am and greeting us, take our breakfast and water, clean our toilet and room, and go to the job.

One Saturday of April, we began to scream Nyau Nyaw Nyan…as we always do every morning.

But, at that time the phone rang, it was from hospital.

Eiji began to change the clothes and ran to the hospital in a hurry.

Saw through the window someone running, we cried out loud

“Hey Eiji hey! where are you go, come back!, you forget our breakfast!”

 Eiji had gone.

Well, we are stray cats so it was okay we not eat once or two.

As like you, we are very patient and strong enough to survive this tough world.

In addition, Three years ago, there was a period when Eiji couldn’t come back at home for 3 or 4 days in a row.

Because Eiji had a job after school, so we are used to waiting 3 or 4 days at home.

Hey, while saying so, Eiji came back.

 It was 11:00am.

Well, finally we could eat our breakfast at noon, and had cleaned our toilet and room.

When we were eating our breakfast, the phone rang again, and Eiji ran to the hospital in a hurry again.

Medical engineers and technicians went to the hospital also.

 At 9:30pm Eiji came back.

 We had our dinner.

Eiji cleaned our toilet, and at last, began to ate ones breakfast.

It was one day of our life.

Finally let me introduce myself.

I lived in the courtyard of the Fukushima Medical University. I don’t know my age, but I know I was old male cat.

Eiji thought I was strong like a lion, so named me Leo.

When I met Eiji first time, I was in a critical situation, thin, sick and weak. So I couldn't move any further until after one hour Eiji retuned with carry bag.  At that time, I think I was lucky in some sense...

I couldn't escape or hide instinctively, as usual I did,

I had scabies so I couldn’t open my eyes.

Bastard insects gather in the wound on the right side of my neck.

 Two days later.

         After Two months.

To prevent other cat have a scabies, I was in the intensive care unit (private room) for about 3 months.

With Silver. But at this time I had diabetes mellitus. I started to lose weight again.

When I came out of 6 months of insulin treatment. Weigh 3.5 Kg, but I was fortunate to have recovered from diabetes.

Leo (now = three years after from first meet).Weigh above 6 Kg.

"Hey bastards (insects) I'm still alive!!" (Quotes from movie Papillon)

So I want you to alive even if you are bullied, ill or stuck in life.

Thanks for your visit. I am glad and happy to meet you.

Part 1. Why Doctor lives with 14 cats in Fukushima?--How did I start keep a cat

2019年05月09日 | 14 cats and resident Eiji

Hello.
My name is Eiji, I am a resident of Soma General Hospital*1 and live with 14 cats.

Well, It is natural that you wonder, why I live with 14 wild stray cats?
Simple answer is because it snows heavy in Fukushima.
So it is too hard for little stray kitten survive over cold winter.
Its climate was different from Yokohama city, Yokohama is located in the south of Tokyo
, where I lived six years ago and where is warm and snow-free.

The beginning of the story is that four years ago when I was student of Fukushima Medical University*2.
That year’s early summer, Misaki and her kittens began to live in the courtyard of the University. I took Misaki’s family at home before winter came.
5 cats

Misakii and her kitten at the courtyard of the University

And one day in a winter, the day before the heavy snow I was studying in a library and when taking a walk outside for a break, met little brother and sister cats Silver and May.
Looks like the american shorthair
2cats

Siver and May, the day before the snow

 The day of snow

It was forbidden to keep cats in the apartment I lived (Iwashiro simizu town) at that time. So I was driven out of the house and moved to Iisaka*3. At that time, unfortunately one of Misaki's children died of illness.

One day in Iisaka where is popular for hot springs, I saw strange dirty creature moving out of the window. It took several seconds for my brain’s nerve to connect to recognize what it was.
It was …It was …It was…cat, little cat.
It was Aki. Tortoiseshell cat.
Total 7cats.

 Aki

 Aki may be smiling

 also is Aki

It continue...
Cats and I am glad to meet you. Thanks for your visit.
