This is Jeep-gojyokai from Japan.
I would like to inform you my answer to your question is as
shown below.
1.First of all, this chassis number shows two meanings.
From chassis number 70486 new stamping style started.
So I expect this vehicle was built after 1967 Jun 23rd.
Please refer to the attached document comparing old
and new type stamping chassis number style.
The attached picture shows old style (upper) and new(lower).
2.Then KE31 engine is high speed 2200cc diesel engine
and so this vehicle might be JC3. Short wheelbase 2 door
canvas top jeep made in Japan.
3.So my conclusion to your question is your grandfather’s
jeep will be JC3 and not J11.
